Darkin feels super isolated in the story and aren't interesting.

With "Varus" being the third Darkin now, there is a problem I am noticing. We have Aatrox, who wants to "kill the humans and reunite the Darkin", Rhaast who "wants to kill everyone and reunite the Darkin." And NewVarus who "Wants to kill humans sadistically and reunite the Darkin." None of these characters are likable or interesting at all. They only exist to want to kill people and find each other too...kill everyone some more?

They just aren't an interesting faction or contribute anything to the meta plot of League's world. They are so old that hardly anyone knows they exist, they only care about each other and no one outside of that save whom they may posses and their motives are as generic as they come. I don't understand why they are being pushed and developed when there are always so many antagonistic forces in this universe that sound much more interesting than them. I would of much rather they just retcon Aatrox to be a demon like Eve or Tahm and just scrap the concept instead of trying to make these boring characters.

EDIT: Just so people are aware, Aatrox's lore has been changed to this

One of the ancient darkin, Aatrox was once a peerless swordmaster who reveled in the bloody chaos of the battlefield. Trapped within his own blade by the magic of his foes, he waited out the millennia for a suitable host to wield him - this mortal warrior was corrupted and transformed by the living weapon, and Aatrox was reborn. Though tales of the darkin have now passed into legend, he remembers only too well the destruction of his race, and wreaks his vengeance one sword blow at a time.

Which is somehow even more generic and cliched as his older one.

Hey Don't forget the fact that the Void wants to do the same thing (aka destroy Runeterra)... although come to think of it isn't that also the Frozen Watchers deal? And then there's the Shadow isles....

What did the People of Runeterra do to deserve FOUR separate apocalypses?!

I personally like the Darkin story a lot, they are my favourite group in the game and I feel once the other 2 are revealed their story will be more fleshed out and not seem as isolated. I find Aatrox, Varus, and Rhaast very likeable and interesting. The 3 Darkin all have different personalities that make them very enjoyable sure they all have relations with killing yet they all have a purpose that's different. Aatrox is a character with great lines and a personality that makes him seem like a godly figure or at least posing as one (yet with his GU he will be getting a new voice so he might get a change in personality yet it doesn't seem likely that he would change that much) from what I remember from Aatrox's lore he helps with wars to get stronger yet I may be wrong with that. Rhaast seems to just enjoy killing just for the sake of it which with his not so serious attitude and funnier lines makes him very likeable and who knows maybe he was apart of the Darkin war for that reason. Varus is a Darkin who probably watched his people be slaughtered in front of him and just wants to avenge his people. He like the others was sealed into a weapon and yet we don't know what the others experienced while as weapons other than Rhaast yet still knowing very little other than Noxus moving him and Kayn taking him. Varus was used as some Ionian sacred well and most likely his hate for the people of Runeterra and the constant interaction probably was torturous to him, but who knows. And with the Darkin all wanted to come together maybe that's only the thoughts of Rhaast and Varus as they are the only ones of the 3 ATM who state this (yet Aatrox might say some stuff about this in the future VO). What I'm saying with this is they are interesting and likeable characters with similar actions yet separate motives for those actions and I feel they are all good characters, yet of course that is all up to preference the person has.

Yeah, I've got more or less the same issue with the Darkin. They're another other-worldly existential threat. We've already got the Void, the Frozen Watchers, and arguably the Aspects to fill that slot. Why do the Darkin need to get plopped down in the middle of it, too? Do we really need a Burning Legion knock-off tossed into the game when the lore is so threadbare that we hardly know anything about the factions that already existed?

Not really, Aatrox doesnt want to kill the humans and reunite the darkins. He wants to participate in wars and get a new and stronger body to keep fighting in wars. Varus is the only one who wants to kill the humans and reunite the darkins.

Rhaast in other hand... i dont think that he really matters, because the actual person who controls the body is Kayn and he is the champion, so i feel that he is the "main character" of his story and Rhaast is only a "side character".

Well the way I understand it,Rhaast isn't really trying to unite the 5 darkins, but he still loves killing humans and isn't opposed to uniting all darkins,so yeah not much of a difference.

And I agree, there doesn't really seem to be that much difference between their personalities or motivations. When they first changed Aatroxs short bio and said that he was seeking revenge I thought the change was good,as it finally gave Aatrox more of a motivation than "mystery",but now that Varus is another revenge seeking darkin,I think that the change is actually worse as we have now 2 darkin seeking revenge and trying to unite the 5.

It'd be better if Aatroxs motivation was something different, like maybe he wants to relive the glory of battle in which he fights at the side of his brethern, maybe he has actually given up any hope of the darkin winning and just wants to die in a war?Pretty much anything else would be better.

Oh geeze.

I hadn't noticed Riot updated Aatrox' lore.

My guess is that Riot changed it because the old Lore painted Aatrox as more of a demon of violence. Like Tahm feeds off greed while Eve feeds off suffering. And the old Aatrox sure seemed to be big on violence. It doesn't matter why you fight, just that you fight. But he isn't a demon, since now Riot has defined the Darkin as 'totes not the Burning Legion, guys'.

How did they manage to make him even more bland than he was previously? I'm completely dumbfounded.

AAtrox likes war and conflict. Can't have that if everybody is dead.
