Swain's rework gave him a total VO time of almost 20 minutes. Irelia's gave her 15 minutes of voice lines. Heck Aatrox got one that was almost half an hour for being a "rework upgraded to a VGU".
Why does Akali get barely 5 minutes of just one liners about killing people?
If we’re being cynical, because those are the lines Riot could come up with for her character and they couldn’t really think of more because her character and purpose isn’t really fleshed out.
Or. Riot is moving away from the hug voice overs that don’t effect the majority of their player base.
If we think Riot actually has a plan. Well Swain’s whole shtick is taunting and knowing more than anyone else on the battlefield. And Irelia is trying to be a paragon for her people. Akali is just an assassin. Her goal is to get in. Kill. And get out. Not to wax poetic about how great murder is. Which she already leans a bit heavily on.
IIRC, they have been stating for a while now that they are cutting back on VO lengths and special interactions in order to conserve players’ disk space/download speed (?). Which, to me, is frankly disappointing considering VO is the main vehicle for in-game narrative and storytelling in League.
She actually has around the same NUMBER of lines as Pyke. She speaks very quickly compared to most champions, with minimal reverb (looking at Aurelion Sol...). And like Pyke, they went for a relatively shorter VO. But if you check out her "Quotes" on the wiki, you'll see she really isn't lacking. She has a LOT of movement lines.
Her voice as well seems a little... off? to me.
The way she says other champions' names reminds me of Katarina's old VO, lol.

Because she's a one liner. And because she can. Also, 5 means of special interaction doesn't mean 0 seconds of regular interactions. I expected you to learn after Aatrox's rework When will you learn?
I think that Riot said that the VO that is on líne, its not the full VO. She has special secret ninja interactions with Kennen for example, that dont not appear in the video.
It's probably just not finished yet, the rework was leaked early after all.

Well, she's young and impatient, leaving her place where she spend her youth for her own ideals. It's teen spirit to the fullest, so a lot of short and kind of shallow answers are kind of fitting. Although I do believe it's a bit too much teen spirit.
Cz let's be frank here. Do you honestly get to hear most of those lines in-game?
If you look aurelion eve zoe and more newer champions have 25-30 mins of VO (which I love) but Riot prob didn't want that much VO so they toned down the lines in the recent few champions.
