Let's talk about the wasted potential with skin lines!

Let me preface this thread by saying that I am in no way saying that what Riot is currently doing is bad in any way. Quite the contrary actually! I feel like Riots skin lines are well thought out and executed brilliantly with cohesive themes that work well together.

This doesn't mean there isn't room for improvement however! What am I talking about you ask? How about special skin line specific interactions?

After the release of Xayah and Rakan, with their recall being linkable it made me think of Riots countless skin lines and how we could use this concept and expand upon it to improve the cohesiveness of skin lines through special interactions!

Now bear with me and try to imagine as I paint a couple scenarios for you guys as examples.

The Tango skinline

I envision Evelynn and Twisted Fate being able to walk near each other and start their dance animation. This proximity would trigger a special interaction that would cause their dance to link into a beautiful tango with some lilting tune to go along with it.

The Pentakill skinline

I envision each champion's dance playing an instrument from one of Pentakill's iconic lineup. Similarly to Eve and Twisted Fate in the previous example, if you have the whole band together on the rift, and use their dance I imagine them syncing up and putting on a slick little concert on the rift. Complete with stunning visual effects and fireworks!

These are just a couple of examples I can think of that would just add icing on top of the cake that is skin lines for League.

Will these skins cost more money? Most likely. Will we still buy them or even be more likely to buy them if we can play with special interactions with our friends? Hell Yes!

What do you guys think? Do you have some other sick examples of special interactions that could be included to skin lines? Like Arcade, Star Guardian? I would love to hear your feedback!

Just because I'm still on the same train of thought and I thought of this one after the fact... What about the Star Guardian line? What kind of special interaction could they have?

What about something silly like this?

Or, for Super Galaxy, maybe something like this?

Probably has to do with how difficult it'd be to code and keep up with it as champions and skins get changed or updated.

Say they animated tango eve with TF so they link up their dance.

3 years later tf and tango tf get reworked and all that animation needs redone, which either makes TF and eve mains happy, or eve's dance has to get redone and eve mains dislike how she gets changed for new TF's interaction to work.

additionally what happens when they expand on that skinline For pentakill example: how would the concert work in One for all? How would the concert work for every combination of the band? (a kayle instead of karthus, or a karthus and kayle, etc.. what happens when a third album comes out with new skins?)

At least xayah and rakan you can code only champion x can work with champion x as that will never change and they're modern champions so the idea of a rework is highly unlikely. You can build skins around the same animation but you can't build animations around skins.

Dunkmaster Illaoi would be so easy. Turn the idol into a basketball or make her a bowler by making it a bowling ball.
