Um, I'm confused. Why is this depressing? I'm lacking some context here.
While I really love the Viktor skin, I think both Kata and Zed' skins are meh. Katarina has already a Harrowing one, I think some other champion would have fit better in this thematic, tbh. Also her hair looks like it could kill men with it. The Zed skins is also meh, but I guess he just sells well.
Zed is alright, but yeah Kat doesn't need another Harrowing skin. Could have done an Urgot or something weird, hell even launched a new Eve skin for it since we're getting her rework next patch.
I own every single Katarina skin. I love the champion. But this skin. This skin is just god awful. What is that hair! Those knives! Just everything about her is gross. Like 60% of her skins are chromas and I would rather have them then this one. Really, really poor skin.
Zed is also really lackluster. The harrowing skins this year, bar from Viktor, are really just kind of 'eh'.

None of these characters even fit the theme right besides Viktor I think he looks okay, where as 
would in my opinion.

Death Sworn Illaoi sounds better and kinda fits with Illaois character, as she is sworn to work for Nagakawhachamacall it in her classic appearance.
I think Katarina is lacking that crutial green fire effect on her hair and swords to make is stand out more. For 1350 RP, it should incorporate new effects worthy of that price range.
It also doesnt help that the PBC version has a very lackluster recall animation and vfx overall. The texturing is also a miss on both Kat and Zed as the transisitons in the clothing are reather weird.
My issue with these skins is they feel like all the other skin lines... at least the older harrowing skins had some variety
