The new Maokai is good and all....BUT

As you can see from the story Nightbloom: "I howl as I stir the air into a crudely twisting spiral, and nourish the storm with my wrath until it expands in a tempestuous whirlwind." That spiral is actually his old ult Vengeful Maelstrom, but now his new Ult is that root thingy, which is cool and all but it kinda ruins his lore.

It doesn't ruined it, he can still do those things in lore, it's just not a part of his game play. Limiting lore based on game play is a bad idea anyways, and in this case its not that bad (meaning to say even if it isn't represented in the game anymore it still makes sense as one of Maokai's powers). At least it will remain as a call back to his old ult from now on.
