As an Ionia fan, please stop for a while when you hit 20 Ionian champions.

Yeah, I hate it as much as everyone else. I adore Ionia, but I have to draw the line somewhere. Its just getting to be too much at this point.

I mean, I get it though. The Asian servers probably have more players than the rest of the servers combined. Asian culture and media is extremely popular. Its not really Riot's fault that people just eat up all the Ionian content they dish out. People just like that stuff, and Riot wants to make stuff people like.

That being said, though. I will accept the fawn jungler or the mysterious masked figure if one of them is Ionian, cause that would make that champion the 20th Ionian champion, and that's where I'm drawing the line. However, if both of them are Ionian, I'm gonna be pissed. I don't care how cute and/or hot they are. Not gonna like it if they're both Ionian.

Same goes for the unannounced champions of 2020. If 1 more is Ionian, making 20 Ionians, I won't be mad. Any more than that, though, like I said, not gonna be happy.

I and many others proved that we can wait a year for more Ionian champions in 2019. I would gladly do that again for even longer if it means the more neglected regions get more champions.

Thanks, really appreciate to read this here.

I get it... Ionia is really popular and all this stuff. I am a massive weeb, actually, so I wonder why I am just not as much invested in Ionia as one might think. But Piltover and Zaun have completely occupied my love for regions.

And seeing that Ionians get released this frequently, while Piltover always has to wait at least 4 years between releases kinda hurts at some point. Every time a new champion roadmap comes out, I hope to see something new for me added to the game. And getting neglected so many times really feels terrible.

So, as someone who is really frustrated about this stuff, thank you for making this thread here. I hope that other regions can get some more champions released without always having to wait between 4-6 years of each. Not just for my beloved Piltover, but the other underdeveloped regions as well, like the Void, Bandle City, Targon and others. All these regions have their own fanbase and I think they deserve some new toys to play with, too....

I mean, even if Ionia has got many champs over the last 2-3 years, the overall lore of the region barely developed.

We had Sylas alone that massively improved Demacia’s lore, whereas for Ionia we’ve had multiple champions (with good stories too, but that’s it) that don’t really add anything to the Ionian environment.

All we know is that Zed is going after Jhin, that Syndra woke up and... what else? Maybe I haven’t read enough but that’s all I can remember right now.

iirc Riot stated this year would be the year of ionia or something? like it hasn't been the year of ionia for the past two years

I think that Ionia has a problem that i will call "The Continental Problem"

Sure, Ionia has tons of champions... But people has to consider that Ionia is a continent. The rest of the continents from Runeterra have tons of different factions, but Ionia is just Ionia.

When people think about the champions from Shurima, they usually think about: Azir Renekton Nasus Xerath Taliyah Rammus Sivir Amumu and maybe Cassiopeia

But Shurima is a whole continent, aside from all the champions from "Shurima" you have Targon, Icathia, Ixtal, Zaun, Darkins and Piltover.

People doesnt say that this is the list of Shuriman Champions: Aatrox Amumu Aphelios AurelionSol Azir Cassiopeia Diana Jax Kassadin Kayle Leona Nasus Malphite Neeko Nidalee Kaisa Malzahar Qiyana Rammus RekSai Renekton Rengar Sivir Skarner Taliyah Taric Xerath Zilean Zoe (and im not even mentioning the Zaun/Piltover champs)

Even if they all are from the same continent.

The same can be said about Valoran.

Ionia needs to have more than one faction to fix this problem... maybe something like "Unbalance /Revels" Faction vs "Balance" Faction vs "Animal" Faction.

"Unbalance" Faction: Zed Kayn Varus Akali Irelia Yasuo "Balance" Faction:
Shen Kennen Karma Ivern MasterYi MonkeyKing Syndra LeeSin Vastayah Revels: Xayah Rakan Ahri Sett Fourth Faction: Jhin (i had to)

I agree it's time to move further from the whole furry weeb stuff yea I like edgy anime too I'm a kayn main after all but enough is enough we need more diverse stuff. We keep getting human champions over and over I know it sells but cmon.

I'm not digging a lot of the art that's coming from the Ionian faction. I'm having a hard time distinguishing what is Ionian art from a shady Chinese or Korean Mobile MMORPG ads. It all looking the same to me.

Sett and Aphelios look like they both came from Tera.

Honestly, my problem isn't how much Ionia they are adding. Its what the are ignoring. We see so much Ionia, Demacia, Noxus... its too much. I do like how they are starting to give extra locations more content (currently shadow isles). But my problem is that there is nothing for Shurima. Being an Azir one trick, it hurts to see none of this ever happen for shurima. Not a new champ, lore detail, or even mention in years.

Aatrox Varus Kayn <==== only darkin btw...

People eat it up cause it's all that is fed to them. If you were given nothing but a burrito for 2 weeks you wouldn't say "I get you just really enjoy mexican food", when that's literally all you are fed.

The tech cities are actually incredibly popular but you don't see them that often, you see Ionia. People have been begging for more Yordle or Bandle City specific stuff being dug into, but instead you get more Ionia. Hell Noxus is rather popular cause everyone loves an edgelord and that is literally edgelord the country. Again, we see more Ionia instead.

The tl;dr is you can't force feed someone mexican food then say "people just love mexican food" while not giving them anything else.

"It has to be a multiple of 4." Isn't 20 a multiple of 4?

Anyways, I agree. I also draw the line at one of the summer Champions being Ionian. I hope it's the masked Champion that's the non-Ionian.

Remember when they released voidborn champions?

I want more Shadow Isles/Pilltover/champions from no specific region (like Kindred). or maybe some wilderness champions, such as ones living in the Shuriman desert or jungle. Would be nice.

VelvetCrotch1/16/2020, 7:40:17 PM3 votes

i agree more lunari/solari, darkin and beastchampions pls. (i still want a female rengar and another REAL dragon (shyv is half dragon and aurelion is more a cosmic being than a real dragon)

Vastaya and Ionia are saturated! Please Riot, considere right now lauching new champions anywhere but these places (or race).

The last time we got an Ionian Champion was Kayn in July 12th, 2017, over two years ago. Before that, it was Jhin on January 28, 2016, more than a year prior.

You make it sound like they're flooding the game with them.

I'm not an Ionia fan. I just so happen to have one of my favourite characters from there, so I do want some progression for Ionia.

But we've never gotten much of that. We have plot threads starting here and there, but they have no connection whatsoever. Syndra's free. Cool. People are fighting for power/different ideologies in Ionia. Cool. Ionian balance is important and disturbing it could have great repercussions. Cool. So where is it? Where's all of that? Why do we have to bring Noxus again?

We have slight answers and there but that's about it.

Obviously I am biased, what I personally want from Ionia is for Syndra's return to the mainland to be something of actual importance. I don't want her to be the Sylas of Ionia, but she is that massive powerhouse that can't be ignored, and she could set a lot of things in motion. More so than telling stories about Yasuo wandering and brooding (sorry for Yasuo lovers out there).

My point being, Ionia is getting a lot of attention, but it never quite develops Ionia as a region, it's just personal plots. Which is fine, personal plots are important, but it does feel underwhelming to have this big region who is supposedly in shambles because of the Noxian invasion... Only to not tell stories about it.

There is some setup (I'm sure there'll be something to do with the new knowledge about the Titans from ages past, etc), but nothing to actually live up to that setup. In the end, we have a region filled with champions, with a LOT of potential for storytelling... And I feel like we don't get much out of it. We'll see this year (ALSO PRAYING FOR SYNDRA COLOR STORY RIOT PLS), maybe I'll be proven wrong...
