So...When's The Lore Update Supposed To Be Finished?

I still dream of Tryndamere or Ryze or someone else from above coming and declaring "Sorry for the misdeeds of the Lore of this game and trying to erase what you, summoners, are. There's a new team taking the Lore task."

They're just rubbing the new lore in our face with the Pantheon smiting every time one logs in, consistently addressing us as summoners in the news and keeping all immersive lingo while they remove the immersion. Then the lore team itself is this mystery shrouded in secrecy creating its own lore and stories and scrapping old characters for new ones whenever they need a new nemesis for their story.

It feels like the old lore is being considered non-canon unless its something the lore department likes. I don't have the feeling the old lore is treated with any weight at all. Characters are being replaced/changed on Riots whims. There is no communication because everything has to be secret or it would ruin the fun of the story (having to worry that my favourite champion is suddenly retconned to make place for a new guy doesn't?).

I am entirely pessimistic and I have reason to be so. I am not looking forward to the finishing. I no longer trust the lore department to treat the characters, stories and world I know and love fairly, for they haven't.

Do mind that I can live with the IoW being gone. It's a giant waste of potential, games have I think the most potential for immersion from any medium, but I can live with it. I do not like how lightly Riot seems to have taken this decision and how little communication with the fans there has been. We haven't even had a Q&A!

Mostly however,** I cannot live with champions being changed in their core identity, retconned or replaced.** I can't care about characters when I need to remember in the back of my head that his story might never be finished because he might be retconned via a simple news article tomorrow. I play this champion every week, obviously I'd get attached to him.

The lore department seems to be the most un-Riotlike department of all the departments at Riot I know of. I don't understand how this came to be. The rest of the departments are doing awesome things. Heck, Riot is acquiring its own tier 2 internet network right now! Narrative just seems to actively against gathering player feedback on changes (because they can't tell us their changes beforehand and can hardly change every story based on feedback afterwards), actively against open communication with the fans (a major lore-shattering anouncement is made, no Q&A or player interaction about it though, just move along to the new lore) and due to the previous point just arrogant (The decision is made, can't change it). Is the lore being outsourced, is there something seriously wrong with the way I perceive them or does Riot just not care about this?
