Pure VO updates are not higher priority for us then full VGUs and New Champs so they have to be squeezed in between that stuff. I'm glad that you guys are really trying to make all these good changes for Varus even when you have little to no time for it right now. Varus was quite a forgotten champion before end season 7 and this makes me feel some what a little happy that he got some love from Riot <3.
Minjo Master17 votesI'd like to stress, personally, how important this kind of stuff is to me. Yeah, maybe the majority of players don't feel this way, and yeah it's not going to be as high a priority as actual gameplay work - but honestly, if these characters are to be taken seriously as focal points for storytelling I feel that leaving them in a completely unrepresentative state in game is doing them a disservice.
The best and most compelling stories ever will really fall flat if they're about an entirely different character than the one we play as in game.

Bonnìe1 votesAgreed! I recently got the SG MF skin and I know they wouldn't have given her new lines but i still felt super disappointed when I heard the same one taunt and joke. Keep her iconic laugh though.

RiotReav33 votesThis is because Aatrox has a champion production team working on him and champion production teams have a narrative writer and a audio designer on them. We don't have extra narrative writers and audio designers that aren't directly working on a new champion, VGU or Gameplay rework like Aatrox. If we were to pull one of our narrative writers and audio designers off of a bigger project to do a VO update it would delay one of our New Champs or VGUs and would create a bottleneck for the rest of the production team that is working on those champs.
We were able to squeeze in the Lux and Maokai VO updates (The roster projects didn't have narrative writers) so we are able to squeeze them in from time to time, similar to the skin splash updates we do, though things like that never take priority over our New Champs and VGUs.

JooshBox2 votesI'm a little disappointed a Varus VO isn't on the upcoming horizon so to speak. Though, I look forward to a Varus (and Miss Fortune) VO update hopefully soon (tm). Maybe Varus can get some shiny new ability icons like

This is wonderful news to hear. There's definitely some champions I feel have pretty outdated VO work by today's standards but are generally decent on other fronts. Are there any other champs who are high up on the VO priority ladder?

When you guys make a big lore change and you sell it with a music video and 2 comics you should probably be willing to back it up in game too. I would've packaged it with a vo and a base splash update if at all possible (varus could use a new splash anyway... Him zyra leona and a few others really show their age rn)

What's the criteria?
You guys never give a straight answer for why some champs get massively higher priority than others.
You doubled down on the Ryze rework, with all the fanfare that entailed, when you did half a job on the Shen one and then you didn't go back and finish it.
I just want a simple, straight answer to this question: why not?
I seriously want to know why it's okay to leave Shen and Fiora half-finished, and why actually finishing them isn't higher priority than starting a completely new project.
EDIT: I also don't want a politician's answer about things taking time, or certain things being more necessary than others. Facts and information, or don't even bother responding, it'll be a waste of both our times.
Weiss Guertena1 votesWhat about Orianna? Her new lore has been out for months, and both her model and quotes don't fit at all. She has it much worse than those two, so if you guys get back on doing smaller-scale updates I think she should take priority over MF or Varus.

How dare you flesh out the characters so much that the old VOs look more as a generalisation of their entire character or blatant exagerrations!? How dare the Riot lore departement be this good now!?
