Sona and many other champions need a VU

Sona needs a VGU but more than anything she needs a VU desperately. Sadly Riot said that they stopped doing VUs because " they really weren't noticed much or appreciated"(and honestly I don't know wtf you meant by that, Reav3. I LOVED Karthus , MissFortune and Gangplank and I'm 100% sure more people did and still do), so good luck waiting for 2050 when Riot gets to rework Sona. And if you are a Sona main and you don't like DJ Sona then rest in piece and have fun playing Sona with shitty skins, aesthetics, looks, quotes (tbh her quotes aren't even that bad but she keeps repeating the same stuff), lore, everything. I love her theme but I can't enjoy Sona , and don't tell me I need to appreciate her kit in order to enjoy her because that's not true. Ever since I started playing lol I always ignored Lux but after her ultimate skin she became one of my mastery 7.

I'm not going to specify why Sona needs a GU because this is not the place, I'll just say that Bard and Rakan are better musicians than Sona.

Sona mid main here; I fuckin' love her rework. She could use a VU, but i'm much more interested in a lore and voiceover update to be honest.

You say you love Miss fortunes VU. Yet Sona received a VU that was on the exact same scale as Miss fortunes and you describe it as garbage....

That was from her "VU" and most of it is just cleaned textures and a small modification to her hair. So yes, she had one, but eh it's not the greatest in the world. VGU champions have had massive overhauls for their visuals, not saying she needs something like that but they could still do more. Her hands and fingers are kind of long and rather creepy looking, she could really use a new model to better represent these kind of features. Begin the human style champion she is, they have done far better work than that.

Well no she recieved new models for all of her skins and new textures for them too. Not disagreeing that she could use another look at, but the VU wasn't just texture work and model tweaks. Renekton had a similar update around the time of the Shurima update, though his didn't come with a gameplay update.

This is why Riot doesn't think people want VUs or why they are unappreciated. Because they do basically just texture updates and class that on the level of Karthus or Twitch. It hurts me to know this is how Riot thinks.

Yes, but it was just pretty much a cleaner version of the same model.

Cassiopeia also had one at the same time as Renekton.

Things like smoothing out various contours and such. Same thing kind of happened to MF where they pretty much just kept the model and then shrunk her hat, cleaned up her hair and various other issues the old one had with basically looking like a Cartoon.

Sure it helps them but they do deserve more most of the time. MF by contrast though has pretty good proportions for the type of character she is, Sona again has some rather big hands that look awkward (in a similar fashion to the twig hands that the older Yordle have).

Sona is fine visually (expect Pentakill, god that skin is awful), lore wise and VO wise are the worst offenders for her

All VUs that greatly improved upon the champion. The sheer fact Riot thinks people don't care about them because of MissFortune Alistar were underappreciated is completely idiotic. They honestly believe they shouldn't do them because people don't appreciate them enough when those champions have all completely benefited from their update.

Otherwise we would still have Sejunai as a bikini warrior in the north; Twitch the rat potato; Sivir the stiff plank of wood; The ugly troll that look like it should be taken out back and shot; etc, etc.

VUs can be just as good for league as VGUs. Veigar Caitlyn LeeSin Lulu SonaMissFortune and I am sure more could all use a proper karthus level of VU when their gameplay is frankly just fine as is. It really ticks me off Riot just doesn't think people would care about these.

I forget which one but it was on a post similar to this one. They basically say most people didn't even know MF got an update, I am assuming for surveys and such. Since that one, they have basically stopped caring about them and would rather work on VGUs. Again, a total shame since champions like Lee or Caitlyn won't get an update for years most likely.

that might have been due to mf being a very low play rate champion. Before her first rework she was okay not really popular after her second rework he just went down hill pretty bad so maybe she was just soo under radar by the time she got a VGU people had forgotten what old mf looked like and just assumed this was her all along as they rarely saw her. Now she's a mainstream champ so clearly any visual changes will go noticed.

Yeah. It is a big shame that Riot has their mindset like this, again I LOVE some of the VUs we have gotten. However, Riot just doesn't see it that way and would rather do VGUs and focus on the problem champs (Which I think is fine, no problem with that) and leave the ones with good gameplay and popular alone.

I think Sona needs a lot of modernizing because her gameplay is pretty binary (considering how interesting her theme is and how Riot could play around with the concept of making music) and her visuals are a bit outdated.

Not sure if this lightens the load at all, but Riot had plans to update some of her splash arts, I'm just not sure what happened with this.

Binary gameplay and simple gameplay is OK as long as it doesn't limit the character to one single strategy

That's still happening, she's on the list. They have a TON of champions they are still going through. Miss Fortune is actually the current one they are working on (while in the middle of VGU candidates).

we have 10 champions to go through and any of them could be next after MF

i hope Sona is next with her 4 oldest splashes (not including Pentakill)

Sona got a MTU (model & texture update). MF, Kassadin, Alistar and Maokai all got a MTU and I think Riot stopped there. Well ok... when summoner's rift was updated, they updated many champion textures but didn't really change the models.

GP got a VGU, not a MTU. Karthus got a VU which totally changed his visual appearance as well as gave him a new voice but didn't include any gameplay changes. Other VUs were Nasus, Garen, Twitch and Heimerdinger. I'm sure I'm missing some champs.

I think Sona is in a good spot visually although she could use a gameplay update. I do wish Riot would make use of her theme better.

These champions need a VU or a MTU: Ahri Blitzcrank Caitlyn Ezreal Jax KogMaw Leblanc Lulu Lux Rammus Riven Talon Veigar Zilean (didn't include champions that could require a VGU... Although Rammus, Veigar and Zilean could use a VGU)

Lux got a texture update with summoner's rift update but could still use a new model and more importantly animations. Just compare her base skin to Elementalist Lux skin.

Ahri's tails could look a lot cooler and her animations are also rather old. She's probably doesn't have the most outdated visuals but her theme could be expressed way better with new visuals.

Lux's model looks just fine, but I can agree with new particles and animations. Ahri could use some updates, but many other champions deserve it more than her.

I have DJ Sona (thank god) and her model sucks so much normally that it kinda ruins the potential of all her other skins.

See, that's something they could do with their 5th team that Riot got recently. could split that team up into a GU team and a VU team. One handles champs that only really need a new model (maybe a lore update) and the other one handles champs that only really need a to get their kit updated. That way by the time Riot gets through their list champs who desperately need a VGU, they don't have to start another list of champs that desperately need a VGU cause they feel under even more disrepair between now and the time they could get updated. http://i2.kym-cdn.com/photos/images/original/000/782/935/ce2.png

yep definitely need VGU update , also i always think her kit could use some work to be less of a point and click. i know its too much work but sona and many other champions are getting dust now with no visual , voice or lore update or their kits . as much as its nice to have new champions i rather see improvements on the ones i got accustomed to and love ( i just love sona too much) than getting newer ones.

most new champions seem to be adding some sort of imbalance to the gameplay until they are adjusted properly anyway.
