Riot I can fix your Varus problem.

Okay, let me preface this topic with I hate the new Varus lore because they deleted Varus and gave his name away. BUT I thought of an excellent solution while showering today (these are when the best thoughts happen).
First, the new lore is here to stay. Riot poured wayyy too many resources into this project for them to scrap it and start over. That's the reality. So meet us halfway somewhere.
Take Varus (the man's) old lore and make it Varus (the Darkin's) new lore.
Bam.
Whoa. Lemme explain. I believe this can solve a multitude of problems and all we gotta do mix the timeline around a little bit. Varus the Darkin as we know was waging war against the humans of Runeterra who-knows-how-long-ago and he hates humans. HATES them. For no reason it seems. Here's how you can explain it. Varus was doing his war thing in Runeterra, being an invader and all that, and he loses his wife and child during the war with the human (y'know, instead of Noxus). I figured you could probably make his wife and kid soldiers in the Darkin army or whatever. Loses some of it's punch but it's something. Now, you can have Varus still choose duty over familial love, he has to continue his mission or whatever, maybe he thinks they'll be fine. Once he sees the aftermath of what the human wrought upon his family that's when he breaks. That's when he abandons whatever mission he's on and becomes reckless, maybe even leading to his eventual imprisonment in the Pit of Pallus and we fast forward from there.
I figure this way, Varus can keep his locket (and he can still be mourning the loss of his family) and actually have a real and not at all contrived reason for hating humans. And his name will hardly have been stolen! He has the same back story! And his looks! That's what Varus always looked like! He's just overwriting the flesh he's possessed to look like himself again.
Is it a perfect solution? Not at all. But I think it could solve a lot of the languish I've been seeing (and feeling myself).
