Dear Riot and Jaredan, the Shurima lore format is fantastic, and I do hope...

...That you plan to do the same for other city-states in Runeterra.

Sorry, title couldn't hold the entire sentence.

This would be a fantastic way to address the gaping holes left in some of the lore you haven't covered yet. It doesn't even have to be a big, character-building/redefining event like The Burning Tides, just a page that allows us to see current Champions place in the lore, and their backtstories. Somewhere where you could definitively update their stories.

It's great that new Champion releases (Aurelion Sol for the Targonians, and Taliyah for Yasuo; most recently) help expand the characters of older Champions by way of association, but you could do so much more for that. The most recent information we had on Noxus was from Sion's re-release, in 2014, and prior to him we had Draven, in 2012. What did we learn from Sion's lore that wasn't specific to Sion? Swain and LeBlanc like to scheme, Boram Darkwill was somewhat suspicious of the Black Rose, and Vlad actually kind of does things other than take extended baths in blood and writing in his big book of blood-based puns, volume XIV.

Similarly, the most recent Zaunite (Ekko), does actually tell us (sort of) what life it like for someone who's not a mad scientist in a tower/lab/torture chamber. Other than that, he dislikes madmen (DrMundo ), sociopathic joggers (Singed ), and completely reasonable if a little stressed techmaturgists (Viktor).

And what about Champion's whose lores are rendered entirely null without the League and the IoW. This would be the perfect place to address them; either by placing them in a faction (Fiddle, Shaco, and Noct could easily fit in with the Shadow Isles, or even make them kin to Tahm Kench as demonic emissaries of some abstract, dark concept), or having a page specifically for all the "Independents" (Aatrox Fiddlesticks Jax Kindred Shaco Ryze ).

You could have an archive of lore, somewhere where people could catch up on their favourite champions by going in, going into the Void page, and scrolling through Vel'Koz or Malzahar's background.

Of course, I imagine that Champions like Ryze, Yorick, and Warwick (who're all already on the ChampUp list) will have their individual lore updated in time with their VGU's.

It seems pretty inevitable that they will start doing the other factions in this format. I'm 100% convinced that they are going to put up an online interactive map of Runeterra with the Icons of each faction that brings you to the faction pages akin to the Shurima and Targon page. I think this because of the couple paragraph long description of the faction on the Shurima and Targon pages before you actually get into the actual champion lore. The format is too uniform not to do some kind of interactive map.

For one, I really hope they preserve some parts of the old Vlad lore in the new one, because it had a lot of hidden depth.

I mean the IoW has to go, but then the subtleties of the old lore were quite beautiful:

  • The line of secretive hermits hoarding vast, destructive knowledge (Haemomancy) in the mountains, away from civilization, for centuries;

  • Vlad himself, a criminal and an outcast from his home city, shunning hermithood to seek fame and power in Noxian politics;

  • His struggle as he has to deal with his past, Darius himself hating his guts, and his own sociopathic nature while trying to fit in among Noxian nobility?

Would be sad if they entirely erase that or make him an actual vampire shudders

Seeing how they pretty much did this already for Targon and more or less the shadow isles(though the shadow isles are still missing yorick,Elise and Evelynn,but yorick and eve need reworks before they get any lore updates and elise might be turned into a more noxus aligned champion seeing how she is friends with leblanc).

It would be really great if they eventually released an updated map,where you can click on the respective city states to get to these pages.

I hope they do continue to update lores at the pace they are going now. I really think Ionia could use some work and these quick non-event lore updates would be perfect for champs like MasterYi MonkeyKing Ahri and Jax who still have mention of the League of Legends / Institute of War in their lores and really don't have much in the way of color lore otherwise. For instance, Jax COULD actually be the grandmaster of Wuju style, possibly even be MasterYi's mentor, which would explain the similar helmets and him having a kit seems to be the missing link between MasterYi and MonkeyKing's kits. But we don't know if that's the case, since all it says is that he's "the grandmaster".
