@Riot and Players, What is Runeterra's Story? When Will The Retcons Be Complete?

When will Runetarra lore actually make sense again?

I'm not trying to be too negative here, I'm sincerely asking: What is Riot's plan for Runeterra's story?

I'm getting really tired of the Retconning process Runeterra is undergoing. Riot, do you have a plan for when the Runeterra's retconning will be complete, and what it will look like at that point?

I know it's too much to ask for specific details, but I'd like to know if Riot actually has a plan for it's lore and when will the retcon be complete?

This Retcon is taking forever, and it still isn't nearly finished. So much champion lore and in-game champion dialogue still reference the old lore.

As much as I dislike this retcon, I must admit, I'm kinda surprised that Riot hasn't completed it yet. It kinda makes them look incompetent in my eyes...and the fact that champion bio's have been so badly written in the past year or two only cements that to me. (Are we really supposed to believe a technical problem spanning over a year is preventing RIot from displaying half a page of text on a website? Sounds like a lie to me. - referencing Riot's supposed technical issue preventing it from displaying full champion lore)

That being pretty much every Riot comment I've read regarding Riot's stance on lore seems to support that they care about their world and they want to see support it's lore.

Despite this, I think it's undeniably obvious that Rioter developers don't produce nearly as much content as they used to, and although the odd project they've created since their change in lore approach has of a higher quality, I don't think the significant drop in lore quantity justifies the slight increase in lore quality.

BTW, as far as I can tell, event lore is pretty much the only thing that has improved post retcon.

Champion backstories have been tragically dumbed down and re-written for seemingly stupid stupid reasons, while Riot claims a tech issue is limiting the amount of text they can post on their own website regarding a champion's backstory.

That's the excuse we're getting we're getting for Riot producing overly simplified champion lore.

I just want to say: I love League of Legends. Riot has shown us they can do their lore better, because they have done so, and it really pisses me off to see them throw their lore under the bus and pretend some of the best parts of it never happened in favor of have several years of lore that doesn't make sense since half of it is retconned and half of it isn't.

I know most players don't care about lore, but really people, take a look at how long ago the retcon was announced! Summoners (which I thought were awesome, don't exist within the in-game lore anymore.) Guess who called me a summoner in-game today? Miss Fortune.

As much as I love them, Riot, it's pretty distressing that you haven't finished your Retcon yet. Do you even have a rough idea how long it will take for the retcon to be complete?

I'm sorry if this is getting to be a tired subject of discussion, but in reality Riot has to my knowledge never given any kind of indication as to when the lore retcon will be complete.

As a LoL player, I'd really like to know when it's safe to let myself get invested in lore again, without the possibility of that lore being retconned out of existence.

Sooo....once again....Is there a projected date for the completion of the lore retcon Riot?

While it has been taking a while, they did recently update a few of them. These new bios are actually really good, at least the recently updated ones. The Shadow Isles ones in particular are incredible. Redoing champion quotes is incredibly difficult for Riot, because they have to make quotes, get the voice actor (the original MF voice actress is not known to the public, I think), and record the full quotes, which is a lot more time-consuming than you'd think. Riot picking out champions and actually doing this could take a while.

I'll agree that a lot of the retconned lore is really good. In particular, I'm pretty fond of the Bilgewater event.

To give them credit, Riot's been really good at event based lore lately.

But let's consider the champion's themselves and who they are in the lore.

It's been over a year since the retcon was announced and it still isn't finished...MF referred to me as a summoner the other day in game - It did remind me of better times, but that kind of thing hasn't been cannon in Runeterra for a long time.

Any triple A game produced these days would get slagged for taking so long to update it's lore, but realistically speaking, Riot has a much larger playerbase than the average triple A game release.

Riot's been wildly successful with League of Legends. Although I don't like it's new lore direction, I find it really dumb that it's retconned lore isn't receiving the funding to get this retcon done quickly and relatively painlessly.

Why is the retcon still happening? It's been a year! Any other major company would have finished this by now....better yet, they would have had the good sense to pull of it's retcon via a single update.

I'm getting tired of RIot dragging it's heels and dragging this retcon out. Heck, Jax's lore still references the Institute of War.

Why is Riot taking so long? I don't buy the argument that they're going for quality over quantity at this point...because most of the retconned backstories have been worse than the original ones.
