Was brand a spiritual mage before the rune?

with the new lore of ryze and brand, we learned more about magic, especially runic. but with "from the ashes", we see that the mother of brand is a kind of shaman who uses spiritual magic (" Some men and women, souls of iron discipline or limited imagination, will encode the magical energy that flows between realms.Your mother was one such mage, Kegan. ") but ryze tries to teach him rune magic ("Magic exists in the world, the raw material of creation is all around us." Magic wants to be used, "said the sorcerer." It is all around us, emanating from the first fragments of creation ") And spiritual magic does not come from runes but from the spiritual realm. So if ryze is like his mother a spiritual mage, how can he learn runic magic and use a rune when his magic is not runic?

Actually, the magic we learned more about is arcane, which comes from the same source as runic, aka World Runes (Ryze utilises both types of magic). And Ryze was describing arcane magic, not spiritual, meaning Kegan's mother was an arcane witch, therefore Kegan was an arcane mage. Same source of magic as runic magic. Therfore Kegan is able to ultilise World Runes. Btw everyone can utilise World Runes so yeah.
