With the new Ixtal region (which I find amazing!), we learn that elemental magic is composed of "magical lines", like spiritual magic. It is obvious that these two magics are related, but I would like to learn more, because many champions use elemental magic (iceborn, lux, yasuo, taliyah ...) One of the things I really like with the new lore ,is that the inhabitants of Ixtal are practically all elemental mages, surely because ixtal is imbued with elemental magic. If anyone has an idea about how this magic works, and how it connects with the elemental spirit gods, do not hesitate to share it!

I can't find the post, but it was stated that different types of magic are very cultural. For example, "Sand magic" is a thing in Shurima because sand is recognized as an element, but it doesn't really exist outside of that culture. Another example would be "ice magic", which is considered distinct from "water magic" in the Freljord, as ice is its own element in that culture. But perhaps in another culture, ice is simply a form of "water magic", as they aren't seen as distinct elements in that culture.

So the short answer is that Ixtal probably doesn't have any overt connection to elementals from other regions: Taliyah, Janna, et al. There's no guarantee that they recognize all the same elements, or if they categorize elements in the same way (like stone/sand or water/ice).

Elemental Magic is based in the Physical Realm, it has to do with what is and is such highly susceptible to the users personal biases. Things we can sense, feel, observe and comprehend. Runic Magic is Elemental + Celestial

Keep in mind that this is just my personal cannon about this topic, so might very well be completelly wrong when compared with RIOT's stablished lore, but I'll do my best to explain how I see Elemental Magic and its users.

The Lifeblood of Runeterra is just Raw, untamed magic, but thanks to the existence of the Spirit Realms and its inhabitants, not all magic is Raw anymore.

Spirit Gods

The same way that Celestials, Ascended and Aspects do, Spirit Gods have some concepts associated, for example, elements themselves and are these that by "Breathing in" Raw Magic to later expell it now as Elemental Magic attuned to their element, "form" their surroundings.

Lower Elemental Generator

The Same way that some Spirit Gods can transform Raw magic, some lower spirits also have this ability, but with a WAY inferior output, being these often both lower spirits or incredibly talented magicians.

"Energy Taker"

Some lower beings lack this "Elemental Generator" so to speak, but can take the Spiritual Energy or Elemental Magic around them to accomplish feats similar or equal to "Generators"

Except they aren't. A Rioter said on twitter once that the only cause where they are related is with the elemental borns in Freljord cause it has something to do with the Spirit Gods influence.
