I was just noticing that Irelia's splash art is still the same as release. It could probably do for an update.

But as we have seen with Kayle, Katarina, Jarvan IV, Shyvana, and others, "Update" does not mean "improve" or "better". While some like Akali's were an improvement, she's probably better off without it, considering the chances.

However, the bizarre thing about it: While the updates have no understanding of the basics of what makes a good character portrait (especially Kayle) the new champions' splash arts consistently succeed in the ways that the updates consistently fail, and I have no idea why that would be the case.

Your second paragraph is so true. I find it so baffling that the new champion splashes are always so good at portraying the champion in a really natural way but when an old champion gets an updated splash it's all "WE MUST SHOW THEM IN THE MIDDLE OF ACTION". It's a really weird inconsistency between splashes that IMO is quite noticeable.
