Volibear's lore still remains the same?
I'm scratching my head on this one. Ornn's lore depicts him as a powerful diety which existed since the beginning of Runeterra. Volibear, his brother and fellow demigod, should logically have similar origins, yet his story has not changed at all.
What's more, In Ornn's story, the Ursine are supposedly warped warriors who twist themselves into abominable shapes to please Volibear. In Voli's lore they are a tribe of bear people who train and fight in preparation of a nameless evil that will one day sweep over Freijord (The watchers? The Void?)
The two stories don't add up. One theory I have is that Ornn's story is extremely inaccurate due to centuries of retelling. From the perspective of one of the hearthblood, Volibear would seem like a villain. Stories naturally get blown out of proportion over time, maybe the way the Hearthblood woman described the Ursine is a result of hundred's of years of revisions in which Voli is made to look like more and more of a bad guy.
The problem with this is that it's impossible to know just how much of Ornn's story can be taken for fact. And it leaves the question of whether Ornn is acutally powerful demigod at all.
My second theory. Volibear is similar to the aspects (think Pantheon), but instead of being taken over by the aspect once he became ascended, he fused with it. The "aspect" that went into him is the demigod in question, Ornn's brother. Volibear is it's new name because of who it chose to fuse with.
Either way, the two stories certainly don't add up at face value right now. I honestly can't tell if Riot put his old lore on the Freijord page as a placeholder (new lore Soon^tm). Or if they plan on sticking with his current bio and adding in new details later.
Maybe i'm missing something here. If anyone else is able to make sense of this please share.
