League of Pathfinders: Playable Races

THE BIG BROTHER·4/7/2017, 3:18:56 AM·7 votes·7,174 views

Wasn't entirely sure where to post this, but I feel as though this place would provide me with the best answers.

I'm working on building a Runeterra setting in Pathfinder and am currently working on races. Humans, trolls, Shadow Isles undead, voidborn, and yordles are all presently set up as playable races. I have ideas for darkin and vastaya but need more information before I go any further with them.

With that in mind, can anybody else think of any other races from Runeterra that would be suitable as a playable race?

What about Alistar's people? Also, there's the Ursine (Volibear's people). Marai? (Nami's people - though it'd be much more appropriate for an underwater campaign). Props to AndreiRayanovsky for remembering the Brackern, too!

There may be more - just trying to help :D

Gonna say now, Darkin are a no go. Only 5 exist so its not possible to have 500 RP as them. Other races would be Demons (Noc, Tahm) Shapeshifters (Nid, ancient Vastayans.) Hextech augmented punks Brackern Targonians (VERY lesser deities) Wildcards (Shaco, Fiddle, Malph)

You might want to make a creature/creation race. Let players build a monster like Warwick or magitech experiment like Zac.

Also, in advance races or pathfinder srd website, you can find rules for creating new races. If your pathfinder players play LoL, just set a point cap and let them custom create thier stats/race as well.

Interesting idea. Do you have any ideas for how you're going to incorporate marksmen? Generally, ranged characters in Pathfinder are actually the least effective at slaying durable targets (because they rely on multiple small hits of damage and damage reduction applies to each individual shot).

Critical multipliers are higher on some ranged weapons (bows have x3, most guns have x4), but there's no way to itemize critical strike chance like there is in League.

Ah a fellow Pathfinder. I am so overjoyed. My respect to you, for sticking to the only last remaining, true, Dungeons and Dragons edition :D

IMO, try to find that technology guide if you want to implement those "experiment" races. There are some guidelines about the artificial limb implants, etc. Also, next to that, you can create a whole new race, using "Advanced Race Guide". However, i wouldn't go with making every race playable, if i were you. I mean, you have a typical hero-type characters in LoL (Tristana , Caitlyn , MissFortune , Garen , Lux, etc.) and then you got a characters like Urgot , Chogath, Warwick and i dont know which, that fits more into NPC\Boss type (Cho as a boss.. man, id like to see that :D )

But what for classes? Id imagine that Gunslingers, Witches and Duelists will be a lot prominent here :D . Also, id like to see a build for a character that is a kin to LeBlanc, for instance (well, i might have something on my mind already :D)

I would advice you to look into the universe section of the lol site, there are a lot of information about lore and stuff, also the lol wikia.

By the way I do not recommend adding the vastaya as a playable race yet because we don't have many information about them.

The darkin race I feel is difficult as well because we don't have many information yet.

OP, you should do, like, a group of experiments A.K.A characters that have modified bodies with whatever. Ingame examples'd be: DrMundo Orianna Singed Twitch Urgot Viktor Warwick Zac

Imo, many of the factions are so distinct that they could substitute "races" in games such as pathfinder. Noxus and Bilgewater are eclectic collections of many different peoples; they'd be two groups of non-specific "human" races in pathfinder. Demacia is pretty much a non-magical "warrior race". Freljordians are the only people with Iceborn blood. Ionians mirror much of what you'd expect of elves in dnd/pathfinder. Piltover/Zaun has a lot of unique stuff going on unique to Runeterra. Shurimans are hardy nomads. Etc, etc. I'd play with that rather than the usual idea of races.

Soraka Morgana Kayle Celestials with diminished powers would likely fit. Give them storyline stuff as well (attempting to redeem themselves or whatnot). Brand Anivia Malphite Janna show that perhaps creating an elemental template might be interesting for player character options.

Your primary goal is to gather the races that have legit playable males/females that would be able to equip most of the armor sets and to be easy for their combat animations, for example if you take Volidbear's race you can't even tell who are the males or females so its not worth it, while Vastaya, Yordles etc you can easily make them playable

Personally I'd have put it under miscellaneous just so the mods couldn't delete it. As for other races, 'elder entities' as a blanket for the indeterminately ancient or unique only-of it's-kind champions (such as aatrox, nocturne, tahmkench, ext). Dungeons & dragons also has a huge variety of inspirational subjects in the fringes, since the main books are pretty same-y about the classical fantasy races.
