Demacian Steel is just Valyrian Steel prove me wrong

Idk man would just be nice to see some original ideas come out of the lore/story team instead of really obviously rehashed ideas from popular media that isn't even that old, seeing as Game of Thrones just ended on TV and the books aren't done yet. When I read that tidbit on my loading screen about Demacian steel I cringed into another dimension because of how blatant the copied idea was. Its not hard to come up with a more original/less specific idea for what Demacian steel is(assuming Demacians even NEED to have special steel to begin with).

I'd share some but I'm a creative writer and my ideas are for sale, not free :) Just want to see more inspiration in the lore team and some actual original league unique ideas. Shouldn't be hard to write more interesting things than rehashed concepts/blatantly copying things. You're being paid to be creative and original, after all.

Hope I don't come off too mean, but this kind of practice is pretty frowned upon in creative communities.

How could Riot do this? Shamelessly ripping off a major fantasy franchise, which has established so many tropes.

What's the next thing they're going to take? Castles? Undead? Politics? Disgraceful.

"When I read that tidbit on my loading screen tip"

Could you be more specific maybe? I would happily discuss, but you're being extremely vague.

Quite a big conclusion to jump to there.

Throughout history and literature there have always been special metal mixes that were regarded the best at their time and blacksmiths didn't like to share their secrets. Game of Thrones didn't come up with it first.

If anything, I always thought Demacian steel was more like Damascus Steel.

Honestly demacian steel was already hinted to be something special years ago, with Mordekaiser commenting on it in his old color story, so this is nothing new(and valyrian steel barely played a role in the early seasons of GoT) And the unique interaction with magic was likely not done in order to copy GoT, but to explain the magic abilities of the demacian champs even though they hate magic.

But Demacian Steel has nothing to do with Dragons... and Valyrian Steel does not absorb magic.

There are tons of fantasy metals that are lighter, stronger, and sharper than normal steel, like Adamantium, Mithril, that steel used in Dragon Ball, etc. Its nothing new.

I'd consider making a metal swords mixed with rock like trees that absorb magic to be original. Also if you cringe over a lore tip while loading into a game I really wouldn't want to see the ideas you have

Game of Thrones didn't invent the concept of magical metal. Hell, Demacian Steel doesn't even share specific traits with Valyrian Steel, outside of the extremely broad 'super light super strong' traits that most magical metals have.

For example, Valyrian Steel is said to never need sharpening and always keeps an edge. Demacian Steel does not have this property.
