Having the League of Legends written out of existence (in the game that is named after it) is a hard pill to swallow. It would be nice to know if Riot is willing to revert these decisions after hearing the community's opinion or not.
Simply mentioning the Noxus vs. Ionia war and pointing out that it doesn't logistically work without the Institute of War got a Red to abandon a conversation with me on the spot, so I wouldn't expect them to discuss the retcon or respect our opinions regarding it.

Only if that feedback is, "If you do what I want, people will pay you", and Riot believes you.
Right now what they are doing is apparently making money. The Shurima event caused people to pay money to buy Azir, and probably Cassiopiea and Sivir, too, maybe even Nasus, Renekton, and Xerath. You can bet people paid money for Guardian of the Sands Kha'Zix, and that's not even counting the probable rise in play time while Ascension was available. If they keep doing what they're doing, they will keep making money.
People are paying them to ignore our suggestions. From a business standpoint, this is way better than the old lore that no one apparently paid for ...

Sorry if I burst your bubble, you were sounding so cooperative, a Red might even give us a carefully worded, properly spun response if we're lucky ... but from what I've seen, this is how things are.
These days Riot reads feedback then does whatever they want anyway. Though I'm sure if players happened to be along the same mindset they'd be sure to say they were implementing the changes people wanted. Strange, that alot of feedback is saying that people prefer a game with a story and player immersion, rather than another generic fantasy land.
Yet here we are.
They've already ignored and dodged this topic many times, and have commented briefly that they plan to move ahead anyway, because they know what will make for a cool story. If they wanted to move away from the IoW and such as you said they could have easily written it out, ala the Joj and previous things.
But nah, let's just scrap the entire thing and start over, and remake characters everyone is attached to already. But hey, now they're from Shurima! Or Freljord! Or wherever they shoehorn them.
I'd feel a bit better about the idea if they actually wrote off league legitimately. As it is now they're just saying, "We're just gonna start a new canon without the League of Legends". Why can't you give it a proper closing? Why can't there be some event centered on the close or fall of the League? Champion lore has gone down the drain, the lore of the world has gone down, and it's just to make it easier for them to pump out champions. To make it so CANONICALLY there's a reason for why this person wants to fight. The champions and league don't match up. There are several champions that make me wonder why they would join the league in the first place. Syndra is an example, as one who doesn't want her power to be anything that what it is, why would she join the league when they balance the champions? Why would Vel'Koz join the league? To learn things? Why wouldn't he just do what he's always done and learn his way instead of going, "Okay, I'll subject myself to your whims to learn"? As much as I don't like the League of Legends being written off, it does seem like it's the smart thing to do. As I said above though, if they just gave it a legitimate end instead of, "we don't wanna write for this anymore!" I'd feel much better about it. Just make the closing of the League an event!
