Questions about the Darkin

Why does Kayn/Rhaast seem to show pleasure after transformation? their VO seem to show that they work in harmony Why can Kayn specifically either be consumed completely or overcome his weapon while Aatrox cannot? Why is Aatrox completely consumed? Why is Varus nearly completely consumed? I say nearly because even though he visually appears to have succumb to his bow, he still holds his ambition to muder every Noxian invader. Why did Aatrox's host succumb to his blade? I strongly feel we will get an Artorias the abyss-walker story here for some reason...

Aatrox is a Darkin himself. Kayn is a human who wields a living Darkin as a weapon. Varus, to my knowledge, has nothing to do with the Darkin. If you read his lore, he was the defender of a dark power in his Ionian village, there is to my knowledge nothing to suggest that this power was Darkin-related, and his visuals are blacks, blues, and purples in his base skin and don't appear Darkin at all. Notice how Kayn changes when he transforms into the Darkin. His head gets horns similar to Aatrox and his body's color scheme changes to being black and red.

Darkin, in the lore, are godlike beings who appear at pivotal moments in the most important battles in history and inspire those they side with with a battle rage. It gives them immense power at the cost of no longer caring for their own lives. Varus's bow doesn't "inspire" him. Yes, it grants him power, but it doesn't inspire him mentally the way Darkin inspire their allies in battle. Also, Varus's bow doesn't have an eye on it, like Kayn's scythe does.

They work together because they have to. Kayn uses Rhaast to gain more power and Rhaast tries to overtake Kayn. However both of these things can only work if one of them stay alive,so they have to work together.

You pretty much answered your question here. Aatrox completely consumed his host already. His host likely had the chance to fight off the darkin,but it simply failed.

It is possible that the consumation of the host is accelerated by negative emotions. Hence why Aatrox infused Tryndamere with fury(because it'll make it easier to overtake him) and why Varus seems to succumb to his corruption(as he is full of hatred),wheras Kayn doesn't seem to be filled with negative emotions.

Alternatively Kayn might also be able to fend off the consumation simply because of his own shadow techniques.

yep in the interaction videos we can now assume that varus(vaarus jk) is a darkin because of rhaast
