@Riot, Why Do You Ignore Some Of The Best Rated Story Threads? What Was the Point Of The New Boards?

For some reason, Rioters are avoiding commenting on some of the highest rated threads in the story and art boards, especially threads that are against the retcon.

These threads are highly upvoted because players want to discuss these issues with Riot, yet most of them go ignored.

Riot what gives? Why ignore your playerbase?

You made boards would allow for player opinion to matter more, and you are squandering that potential. Why?

Walked in here expecting you to have cursed, since they were downvoting you. Found nothing but a perplexed young'un.

The most horrible thing about the 'real world' is how sensitive adults are about anyone insinuating they don't do a good job. Players making stories for them to read makes their income feel threatened. Without income, they don't have their own life as they know it, so they just walk by here, press downvote and move on... to be similarly passive aggressive with their co-workers the next day.

Impetual mostly gets downvoted a lot because he's been consistently making 2-3 posts every other day and asking Rioters questions that never get answered.

It's a bit disappointing how many people treat him like a nuisance because let's be honest, he wouldn't have a reason to post so much if the narrative team didn't so consistently fail at both delivering content and communicating with fans.

It's not that I dislike his constant posts, but I'd feel he'd get his point across more with one single thread and rant.

But if there's something I gotta commend, is that his dedication is unwavering.

While you're right in that he could get his point across, the question here is--does he have a point to make or does he want those questions answered?

These forums aren't exactly static. They grow new posts constantly and Impetual's topics get buried within a day or two, none of his questions or concerns ever really addressed. While you could claim that he simply rewords the same questions, paying attention will make you realize that he goes specifically after topics that were left unsatisfying in our latest attempt to interact with the narrative team.

What I'm trying to say is, you're right in that his constant posting gets exhausting. On the other hand, his posts are a symptom and not a cause. Even if he stops posting, someone else will. Until the core issues that began this discontent are gone, these posts asking the narrative team heavy questions will keep coming. And coming. And coming.

There's nothing we can really do about it. Sure, it makes the situation monotonous because it's the same questions being asked for months, but I don't feel it's right to be annoyed or upset by people like Impetual because it's not like they caused this situation; they're only reacting to it.

Hey Impetual, mind if I say something to you?

I do think your arguments are legit, and you have a good reason to keep on Riot with your questions, but I feel that you're repeating yourself, far more than you should.

A lot of your posts have the same tone, and to an extent ask the same questions, although worded differently. Because of this, I offer one alternative: Make one board, and post a good long rant.

I'll admit: I'm one of those guys who likes reading people's rants on the internet. I get bored sometimes. I've written long posts as well, and I think that if you make a good argument, it's one that the community will read. Will Riot read it? I'm no fortune teller; can't say for sure.

But I do think it's better than you posting a whole bunch of posts to neutral/negative responses. By the way, keep heart. I'm sure Riot looks at your posts more than they do mine. Just saying.

Thanks for the reply, and I'll take it into consideration.

Sorry to anyone I've annoyed about over posting similar subject matter multiple times... It's just I really do feel like Riot's decision to retcon lore is a bad move, and I'd like to see them change their decision.

I see the forums as a place for debate, as Rioters will rise to defend their lore decision (when they actually feel like posting about it), I feel that I, as a player, should also be voicing my opinion on their direction.

As far as I know, Riot thrives on player feedback.

Keep in mind, I was around during season 1 where Riot seemed like it discussed most of its major decisions with us, and did not seem nearly as secretive. Maybe my expectations for the current Riot are not justified anymore.

Now that they're acting like pretty much any other gaming company, maybe it's time to realize how spoiled we used to be. Or maybe not, we don't know much about how Riot runs these days.

But for me, I really want to see the old lore come back. Whenever I have a new angle on that discussion, I will post it.

To be clear, I sort of have an agenda:

I want Summoners to be a part of the League of Legends lore again!
I want the League of Legends to actually exist within Runeterra! Why call the game "League of Legends" if the "League of Legends" doesn't even exist?
I feel that the lore we got through the Journal of Justice about the Institute of war was better than the CGI videos we are getting now. Why can't the written world tell a story better than a movie? From my perspective, Ruenterra seemed more developed when its lore was text based! Runeterra felt like a world with political,trade, and military issues. It used to feel far more immersive than it does now.

I'm not trying to hate on Riot, I'm trying to tell them that I feel they made a bad decision with their lore direction, and I am trying to argue my opinion to the player-base, because there has been some really dubious stuff happening with lore in the last year.

I realize that this is only_ my_ opinion. I'm just trying to get it out there to see if anyone agrees.

I want to see this game get better because I care about it.

Sorry if my excessive posts has annoyed anyone, I'll try to contain myself in the future.

Many thanks for considering my words. This post was centralized, got your words across, and put it all down in one spot. I do hope Riot listens more as well, possibly more towards active members like yourself who've been in the community for so long. While I was once here to read rants and lurk for the lulz, I do care about the game myself, considering I play it more often than I do console games these days.

No red comments on a thread doesn't mean they aren't looking or reading the boards frequently. You cannot know what they're actually looking at, but insinuating they don't look at all and are just ignoring the whole board is pretty ignorant, considering they have actually came in here and spoken before. Was it in the threads you wanted them to talk in? Apparently not, but they came here and talked, and are probably still reading threads all the time.

They've said some things, but not a lot. They don't want to talk about future content, which is normal. but they also don't talk about their current writing philosophies.

My issue isn't so much with their lack of reading the stuff posted, but their lack of responding to it.

Riot used to be very player focused, and it would discuss LoL with us to a great extent.

I feel that that was one of their greatest strengths that helped LoL become as popular as it is today.

I don't want Riot to lose sight of that, especially when it comes to their lore.

Really now, us players don't really have much of an idea about what Riot is thinking! That's a big part of the problem!

The lore team consists of seven chimpanzees with typewriters... you can't expect them to post on the boards, do you? Having them write lore seems already too much for them...

It is simple: Riot realize that "best story" spam is actually spam, and like all spam it is ignored by all beside by other spam/lore fanboys.
