I had to stop and think about it for a moment, after zooming in, and my answer is... yyyyyyeah, I think so. There's a bit of "metro" in that look, fashion that has a splash of femininity but that seems designed to entice women rather than join them. His hair is perfectly kept, his smile is expertly wielded, and I wouldn't be surprised if there was some makeup involved, but he doesn't seem quite girly.

Now, it's fine for a male champ to be feminine. That could be pushed a bit later, for funsies. However, Taric never struck me that way, which is why this sort of toeing the line seems much more appropriate. As a counterexample, our previous Loras Tyrell considerations would be a bit too deep into actual femininity, I think, whereas the Fabio direction is a better fit despite being similar in many details.

Then again, maybe I'm reading into things too much and it's just a nice little easter egg icon. Blame PBS Idea Channel on Youtube.

I would agree about the Loras Tyrell thing, but caution against going full Fabio. To me Fabio represents more of that sorta cliche 80's romance novel cover look and also seems just a but too old as a reference. I could be wrong here. Maybe a young Fabio slapped with a bit of Flynn Rider and The Prince from Beauty and the Beast when he turns back to being a human. Enough structure to show he's got chiseled features, but not so much that he looks like he's cut from stone.

To me Taric has a bit of youth in him. I'd peg him around late 30's, at least personally, maybe early 40's, in the range of Jaime Lannister. Actually.. something in Jaime also feel a bit right. He might be a bit too rugged, but he's certainly handsome, but "pretty" to a degree. Not talking attitude or personality, that might be more of a Loras Tyrell thing, but again, young-feeling, structural but not necessarily chiseled, and some metrosexual dashed in there as well.

To me the metrosexual note brings him into a bit more of a contemporary place, versus just some standard fantasy paladin. Also it pulls back from the sorta 80's-90's poof that, in my opinion, date's Taric pretty badly. While my intention would be to bring some of the Majesty and beauty of traditional fantasy to Taric, I'd like to figure out a way to.. for lack of a better term.. "modernize" him so that he has a more of a feeling that resonates with current beauty and fashion, while maintaining the quintessential paladin aspect.

Also, that Taric face doesn't have a tiara. How do you feel about that?

I like Taric without tiara. I think that it would make both his face and hair look more fresh and elegant. And it creates an impression of a more open-minded and confident character. So, while having a good knight Taric, what will happen to Bloodstone Taric? Will he eventually get his evil red eyes, majestic long hair and maybe even a little edit to his voice, just to make him sound a little bit more grim and rude? I've also had an idea about Armor of the Fifth Age Taric. I'm not sure if he will still have his stun from the old kit, but if he does, what if it will look like if he's sending a "heart" to stun his enemies? And by the way, Taric with sunglasses makes me think of a trendy from a college. You know, some kind of a king among young teenagers, with a rugby ball in one hand and a cheerleader girl in the second one. But that's just a random result of my imagination :) But why college trendy? Maybe even a musician? Some counterpart to Pentakill with it's metal sounds, an electric band vocalist & keyboard man playing synthpop/synthwave, something similar to Depeche Mode or Tesla Boy with it's 80's influence? Oh yess! You can't imagine how much I like them! Funny fact, but I listen to them mostly when I'm playing as Taric. There's just something absolutely rad and uncatchable about that.

Agreed about the Fabio concerns, and I'd add that Fabio often had this sort of hungry or predatory expression which is totally not Taric. Concerning age, sort of agreed. I kinda saw him as more early/mid 30s, but your suggested minor age bump would be fine. He's definitely not a young 20-something. Jaime is a bit too chiseled imo, and certainly too rugged by this point, but I see what you mean. Fashionable, desirable, still deadly and strong. I understand what you mean by modern, and I think that would help people understand and buy into the "graceful gorgeous paladin" fantasy. Since that fantasy is a bit of an oddity in the current edgy badass pool of League, making it a bit more accessible is a very good thing. Tiara is totally unimportant. Gems are important, but that specific accessory is not. However, accessories in general are something I like for him, with the exception of earrings. Gettin' tired of the gay jokes.

I definitely like the references you're picking here, I am pretty excited to see where you're going with it!

My only nitpick would be that I see him more as early 30s than late 30s, but that's almost negligible to bring up. Tiara or no tiara is the same to me. Maybe make the base model tiaraless and add it on one/some of the skins?

If you're taking ideas, a possible way to modernise him would be in the haircut. Since he's going to be armoured, you can't pick an outfit that makes him look dashing (like Flynn Rider), facial hair is probably not going to happen (maybe a Yasuo-like five-o-clock shadow for his bloodstone skin?), and accessories are going to have to be on the same vein as his armour, you're going to have to make do with giving him an appealing hairstyle.

I feel you on the tiara-less option for the base honestly, and that slots into one of your points. Giving him a bit more modern of a cut (I'm looking into like.. long-ish Final Fantasy sorta hairdos) makes the tiara thing difficult. Tiara's create an EXTREMELY dated look in my opinion and almost force the hair to part down the middle. Doesn't always happen, but it makes it hard to make a modern or "fashionable" haircut work.

Late thirties is not old! But we already have champions in that age range or even older (Garen, Jarvan, Darius, maybe Xin, maybe Panth, possibly Kalista when she was alive?) and they are nowhere near "too old".

Yeah, you can absolutely ditch the tiara if it's a detriment to the hair. Sounds like the disadvantages outweigh the pros.

lol. Wow. My brother, the oldest in my family, is also in his early 30s. He's 33. He'll be 34 in 3 months, in February. I'm the youngest, 22. 23 in March. I don't think he's old so yeah. I wouldn't say late 30s is old either. lol. 30s is like, the edge of your youth, the last bit of it. 40s is like borderline between young and old. Depends if you still look young or not. 50s is most definitely old. lol. Just so long as you don't have a million wrinkles and start walking with a cane, I wouldn't call you old. =P So yeah. You can rest easy knowing that late 30s isn't old. So long as you can still run fast, it's all good. When you start walking very slowly like an old person, then you might want to worry.

To the 2nd thing you said. Yep. Definitely shows that you're the same age as my brother. He's also hardcore into Final Fantasy (sadly not this game though, for he's never played it and too lazy and stubborn to give anything a try). I like some of the Final Fantasy games but not big into the franchise. Only game I ever really liked was Final Fantasy VII: Dirge of Cerberus, though that seems to be a not-so-popular game among most of the hardcore Final Fantasy fans. I even bought Dirge of Cerberus, too. I liked the card games on VII and VIII. I would think giving him a Final Fantasy look would make him a more serious type of a champion and less of a joke. I might use him more in that case though.

If you came up with a Final Fantasy hairdo for him and it happens to be scrapped in the final process, then I'd actually like to see how it looked with the Final Fantasy hairdo. I'm actually really interested in seeing that when you get around to it. Think you could still show it if you do it even if you change your mind about it in the final process??

I think he needs a magic aura around him all the time. I mean, he's wearing armor made from magic gems that he cut right? His hair could be kind of long and floaty and flowy. He needs to have a high whimsical factor. We have enough of the gritty knight types. Like Iron Stylus said from a Final Fantasy approach. Final Fantasy 4's Cecil was very soft spoken and gentle for a knight.

Riot's artists are talented, I'm sure you'll do a great job. Tons of faith.

Also, Mirror Knight Taric skin would be awesome. Giant Mirror Shield ^.^

Hello, it is I! The one who posted the picture of fabio as a reference in the taric thread. I want to say I completely agree with what you're saying. Human Beast+ Jaime Lannister+ tyrll for personality.

On the subject of singed, have you thought about changing the bright green puff coming from the tanning lotion to a pink or whatever color taric's tropical tan would be? Maybe even change the poison trail color on some of the skins.
