@Jaredan: PLEASE, for the love of lore

Give us a map.

Please.

Just scrawl something on a napkin. It doesn't matter. Just show us something. And if you can't, for Christ's sake tell us why. Why has it been nearly a year without any sort of foundational background on the retconned Runeterra? What even is Runeterra now? Is there even such a place with that name anymore? I don't know. Do you?

Until you release this kind of basic info, everything you do is quite literally meaningless. You need some kind of foundation to tie everything together, and right now that foundation is nonexistent.

So please, please, please... give us a map. It really is the least you can do.

Ezreal "Who needs a map?"

Seriously? I'm the first to post this here? Alright then.

I second the motion for napkin map, and only a napkin will do. Make it so.

It doesn't even have to be a detailed map of where every faction is like the old one.I'll take a map like this one: http://vignette2.wikia.nocookie.net/rwby/images/c/cb/Hist2_00002.png/revision/latest?cb=20140918233003

Where every thing is blacked out & we only get an idea of the shape of the landmass of Valoran.I'll take that for now.

And I agree, they really need to work on the foundations/setting of the Valoran & Runeterra. It's really annoying that they're neglecting such an important thing. Speaking of which, why didn't we at least get a map of Bilgewater & the Blue Flame Island (where Bilgewater reside) during the event? If they're not going to give us a map of the world,at least give us a map of the region the events will be about. That way in 20 years,we can piece the map together.

I eagerly await a map. A map is incredibly important for a fantasy world such as Runeterra. I would be happy even if they release a map on a napkin as you said, as well.

I believe I have information about this issue, however I can't remember in which Jaredan's comment I've read this: They want to release a map, however, they can't release it, unless they plan out every consequence of geographical positions of important locations - they say they want the action to govern the position of locations. Otherwise, as they say, the action will be "restricted" by a map that has been randomly made. They don't want to get an amazing idea for an event or something, then suddenly discover that they can't make it because the map doesn't allow that.

However, I find this to be a bit silly. Then a map will never be made, because they'll always need to make an infinite number of events before they could make a map.

Another thing came to my mind, and I think this is one of the biggest problems the Retcon has made: without the IoW, Runeterra is just another generic fantasy land. There's nothing characteristic about it; for example, Kindred could as well be from another fantasy world. Runeterra has no core identity, and that can't be made by stitching together some random stories that might be well writen, but have no meaning one in relation to the other.

I thought they showed a map of Runeterria in the 2014 harrowing post retcon

This is a tad dramatic. Having no drawn map does not inherently devalue every other bit of lore that the release. There are good works that don't have an explicitly drawn map per se.
