They have currently 2 teams that do visual&gameplay updates on a regular basis(the latest update being Warwick, the next one being Galio),because in the end, almost every champion who needs a VU also needs a gameplay-update.

Kayle and Cho'Gath are both on the list for VGUs,but from what we know, they don't seem to be among the top priorities(those seem to be Urgot Evelynn Pantheon Mordekaiser Irelia Nunu Swain )

Akenero2 votes

Urgot is currently being worked on by the WW team, and Evelynn will be worked on by the galio team(galio is very soon™) And look at champions like ezreal, lulu, corki, veigar, fiddlesticks, none of them need gameplay updates, but SERIOUSLY need visual updates.

RiotReav38 votes

Fiddlesticks definitely needs a gameplay update as well

Akenero2 votes

Yes..He does... Why did I list him XD Don't mind me, I haven't got a brain.

But where's the dev blog? :(

Probably next week unless something crops up that'd delay it.

@Reav3 But what kind of VGU level is Fiddlesticks in? Ryze/Tristana level or Sion/Poppy level? Also mind if I share my Fiddlesticks rework concept?

RiotReav31 votes

Hmm, not sure as the state of Fiddle could be very different by the time we start working on him.

Going on the current state of fiddlesticks, if we were to work on him now, I would say that he needs a lot of design work to be in a healthy state. His theme is pretty cool though so I don't think we would have to go too far with that.

I would say his rework would be closer to a Warwick/Taric where he would need a good amount of gameplay changes but not as much on the theme side of things (Though like Warwick I think we could make him a lot scarier with a full VGU)

Wordofmask1 votes

So, Do Galio, Urgot have theme problems?

RiotReav32 votes

Yes

Oleandervine3 votes

{quoted}

Yes

What about Blitzcrank? I feel like he needs a VGU to work on his grab and his ultimate.

Malicious Metal1 votes

How 'bout Mordekaiser. I feel his problem isn't lack of strong thematic but rather his kit not really delivering on that badass fantasy.

RiotReav34 votes

I agree, most of his current problems are kit related and not theme related. I think the current execution on his theme (Death Knight) is pretty poor though and needs a lot of work, similar to old warwicks execution on the werewolf theme.

Malicious Metal1 votes

Exactly. His kit is rather generic and the only thing that really fits his Death Knight theme is him enslaving souls and sustaining off the suffering he unleashes upon his foes.

And even then it's not AS cool as it could be. Probably why I'm so excited to see him finally live up to the vision of his lore and theme.

What are your thoughts on Rammus

redfeenix1 votes

I agree, you guys completely missed the point of an undead juggernaught suit of armour.... A relentless animated suit that cannot die and cannot be stopped.

Blizzard got it right though:

redfeenix1 votes

And sorry to harp on this again....

But Shen. What about the majestic Ninja Juggernaught Shen?

This is what, i feel, is what Shen should look and feel like:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CODhT9gVrl0

A badass, unstoppable beast and charges into the enemy team and wreaks havok. Not an old man that walks with a limp. Or summons weird totems.

A badass.... is that too much to ask for?

GreenLore4 votes

But...Shen isn't a juggernaut,he is a warden....

Not to mention that the dude in the video isn't even a ninja,he's a samurai...

redfeenix1 votes

What do you mean, shens a juggernaut. Whats a warden ? I know the Warden from wc3 ...

Shen plays nothing like a ninja. He is a strong badass tank and plays a lot like the samurai

GreenLore6 votes

I'm talking about Subclasses: Juggernauts are slow champs who can take and deal a lot of damage(like Darius or Garen)

Wardens on the other hand are Tanks who excel at protecting their teammates. And thats pretty much what Shen does and what he always did(dodge zone for his allies, taunting the enemy to keep the focus away from his allies and his ability to come to the rescue of an ally regardless of where he is).

redfeenix1 votes

By the way just wanted to leave my feedback on your WW rework.

In the past I've said honestly that I feel that your team made some of my main champions worse (thematically speaking)... mostly Shen.

However, I really like the new WW. Thanks for not ruining that bud, CertainlyT is certainly a great designer.

I think hes a little more fun to play than Blizzard's greymane, but mechanically a lil boring.

Thank you bud, great update!

GreenLore1 votes

So you consider "Death knight" to be his primary theme?I always thought of him more as an evil overlord. I mean sure he can easily be both(and even an animated suit of armor in addition to that),but I kinda feel like the "evil overlord"-thing simply fits him a lot better, because the "death knight"-theme kinda lacks the raw power and superiority of the evil overlord theme.

RiotReav33 votes

I think a death knight can also be a evil overlord (And Morde is and should always been super evil) but I think "Evil Overlord" is way to broad of a theme and also doesn't really convey gameplay very well. Simialr to how Taric is a "protector" but his theme is "paladin"

  1. I think you should try and take even more cues from Tolkien's work whenever you plan to begin Morde's VU, specifically Morgoth, Sauron, and the Witch King. Listen to Blind Guardian's Nightfall in Middle Earth while doing it, will help.

  2. Megatron Morde needs to be a thing!

Malicious Metal1 votes

Perfectly put.

GreenLore1 votes

Thanks for the clarification :)

Was just worried that "Evil overlord" isn't on the radar at all.

Valor Bot1 votes

Are there any other Champions you think fall in a similar spot as Morde? For example, to me it feels like characters such as Quinn and Valor and Corki have a lot of missed potential; Quinn and Valor because they don't really feel like a 'falconer duo' (more as just a single champion who speeds around shooting bird-shaped missiles) and Corki because he could function much more like a bombing air pilot with the right changes to his kit than he currently does (imagine a Corki who can fly over terrain and drop explosives!)

I think Quinn and Corki need a lot of work on there themes. "Falcon Scout" and "Pilot" are just not super resonant. While I think there are a lot of elements we could keep if we ever get to VGUing them I think we could also make them a lot more exciting. Not sure how we would do that. I think they would be similar to a Sion/Yorick where we would want to take there theme to the next level.

Also Corki flying over terrain dropping explosives sounds awesome.

La Bello1 votes

Do you think you would ever go back and work on Shen?Do you feel that Shens rework hit the mark?

RiotReav31 votes

Possibly one day. I think Shen is in a much better spot then he was pre-update. The old Q had a lot of game health issues. While Shen could still be improved he is in a much better spot then many other champions at the moment.

Do you guys think you would keep "Scout" as Quinn's most prevalent archetype, or would you instead hone in on the "Falconer" theme since that's what she started as conceptually? If there's some way to integrate the two thematics seamlessly in one kit then that's cool too, of course -- and they do seem like they naturally go hand in hand (just like "pilot" and "bombardier" pair well for Corki). However, I do think "falconer" is the one archetype that makes Quinn truly unique ("scout" was originally Teemo's theme before her), just like "pilot" is what makes Corki truly unique (Ziggs already does the whole bombing thing quite well), so maybe those are the things that should be enhanced about those characters in future VGUs, though I'd like to hear your thoughts.

Urgot really needs to be the first artillery tank (real life tank) of the game. Maybe recicle old Xerath's turret form, and give him scaling MR.

Valor Bot1 votes

It'd be hilariously awesome if they made Urgot an Artillery Mage / Juggernaut hybrid. Would that even be balanceable?!

Edit: I just realized how stupid I am for asking this question

Photos of Ghosts1 votes

Eh, I don't know, it might be possible if we either prevent him from building AP or we make Rylai's disabled on him. Something like he has lots of slows when he can walk, then he stops, gets immobile, gets range and damage, loses cc and (some) tankiness.

He could actually be a form swapper! Channel to swap forms, on mobile he has a defensive tool inspired to WW E/ Sion W, an AoE slow+grounding, a midrange poke skillshot that marks his opponent for a proc of damage after 2 autos. Still lowest range (lowered to same as lvl 1 mini gnar), higher AS, if within melee range he does a melee attack that deals bonus physical and magic damage. On immobile form, a sort of larger radius Amumu W that swipes in a circle instead of being continuous, an AoE high-damage spell that interrupts, a ground targeted fast missile that applies both onhit and spell effects. No MS, 600 range autoattacks.

Valor Bot1 votes

Aye, I thought of that too! Maybe melee form he uses that drill/knife-like weapon on his arm, and for his ranged form he uses the artillery/cannon on his other arm. Would make for a super unique kit to say the least. I don't think a mobile form would be appropriate though, at least not a form that grants him access to too much mobility. Both Artillery Mages and Juggernauts' key weaknesses are their lack of mobility.

Photos of Ghosts2 votes

I'm doing a detailed post right now, I was rather thinking:

  • both forms are ranged, but one is caitlyn-ranged and with a long-range target bonus, and the other is sub-minignar and dual wielding with a melee weapon that deals bonus damage.
  • "mobile" form is mobile in the sense it has ANY movespeed. The turret form has 0 movespeed and is GROUNDED.
Qiyana is SO HOT1 votes

@Reav3 What about Akali? I heard you guys say before shes a top priority VGU as well. Is hers a theme problem or an overall kit problem? Personally i think its a little bit of both.

Linna Excel1 votes

Reav3, do you even know which lane fiddles would be redesigned for? He's usually jungle now, but I've seen him mid and support in the past.

La Bello1 votes

patented 5 minute rework

Passive(Feast for Crows)-Fiddlesticks gains bonus spellvamp and does not appear on the enemy minimap

Q(Fear Incarnate)- Fiddlestick fears all units in a radius around himself .Affected units suffer reduced magic resist.

W(Soul Harvest)-Fiddlesticks tethers himself to a single target dealing magic damage to them overtime based on their proximity in relation to Fiddlesticks. The closer they are to Fiddlesticks the more damage they take

E (Dread Scythe)- Fiddlesticks swings his Scythe in a set arc in front of him silencing and damaging targets. If the target is feared or a minion this skill deals bonus damage.

R-Largely unchanged +Fiddlesticks gains massively increased movespeed during the duration of crowstorm +Fiddlesticks takes reduced damage during crowstorm
