Swain's hair

"We wanted to keep Swain’s design simple, especially his clothing. Noxus values strength above all, so functionality is more important than appearance. Swain may be the Grand General of Noxus, but he couldn’t care less about what others think of him. He’s wearing practical armor, similar to what he would’ve worn when he was a soldier, and his captain’s coat is the only thing denoting his status."

^from the Champion Insights: Swain article

so if we're going to point out Noxus's preference for substance over style, why in Christ's name does Swain have this Lucius Malfoy haircut? I'm absolutely giddy about the VGU but this is the one thing that really bothers me: we went from the weird triple mohawk thing to hair that's just too long. what exactly is supposed to be functional about Swain's hair, rito? why not a simple military-style cut?

Swain's hair gives off the appearance of someone who is flamboyant or narcissistic (like Lucius Malfoy). Swain is subtle, and thus should have a subtle haircut and maybe some subtle stubble.

Men's hair being short is a fashion, and it started with low ranking soldiers (shorter hair > easier to keep clean), there have been many times where long hair is the norm, but only high ranking leaders, and nobility, wouldn't have to tie their hair back. It's just a visual cue. He's a general, but not a modern general.

Short hair would make it seem as if he answers to someone.

That is the kind of hair you only see in people who have no trouble with adversity. You don't talk shit to them because they can literally deal with you without a hint of stress.

Pretty sure that is the definition of pragmatic.

You know, everyone says Malfoy. And I get it. But whenever I see him, I see someone else entirely.

... Darn, I feel old now.

His face looks like Lucius Malfoy too, so does the style of dress. Literally the first thing I thought when I saw the new swain update was "They made Swain into Lucius Malfoy, wut".

That said I actually like his new design, though I was never a big swain player. I feel bad for the swain mains before this. But the changes seem like something I would want to play now. He looks and his abilities seem really cool.

I assumed the triple mohawk thing was just...like he couldn't grow hair back in those spots? I don't know, I thought his old hair was odd and very take it or leave it. I'm pretty neutral about the new hair. It's not like Lucius Malfoy hair is BAD.

Honestly, if you gave Swain a bit of a goatee, he could look like Saruman too, who's probably a more appropriate character comparison.

I think people just want Swain to be like Tywin Lannister, who is similar in a ruthless, pragmatic, intelligent ruler sort of way. Not inaccurate, but Tywin doesn't hold a monopoly on that type of character, that type of character can look like whatever they need to.
