So what does smaller, but more frequent LUs mean for us?

I feel like if there is to be changes in the way LU are presented, perhaps there should be a Nexus video/blog that openly discusses this major or possibly minor shift.

I myself have never had any issue with the amount of lore we got per year, it always felt fair and evenly distributed. But I did think perhaps more for each champion would go a long way, however hearing that individual stories have a word limit kinda crushed that thought. But the prospects of re-visiting champions quicker sounds like a step in the right direction, although I'll have to see that first to believe it.

What I really don't like is the idea of removing the mandatory bio+colour stories for each champion LU. I know that there is an apparent plan to re-visit the Noxian champs this year, for both those that were missed recently and those who only had bio updates. But like I said already I dont like the bare minimum amount of lore each champion got from previous years and I really cant appreciate updating Leblanc, Kata & Darius without there own colour story. Even if Darius is "fine" because he had the comic already (even tho that really shouldn't be a replacement) and narrative are only holding back on Kata because of spoils for a future Du Couteau story. Regardless my point is, I really hope the tap isn't being put on permanent drip, meaning quicker updates but with less in them.

Am I being paranoid and rash in my thoughts? Quite obviously yes, which is exactly why I would have hoped for a Nexus blog to clear things up. I even said in the past before even gameplay/blalance started doing blogs discussing their aspirations for season 8, there could be one from the narrative team as well. Even if narrative cant make promises, something to discuss more about would be better.

Hi!

So there is an upcoming Nexus post that talks more about behind the scenes of the writing folks, but until then (and understanding that it's a more broad post, rather than a specifically focused answer) - what do you suggest as an alternative? I'm genuinely interested to kick about some ideas with you folks to see what you feel would be better, and what the pros and cons of each possible solution are acceptable or no.

For example - you say that you're not a fan of the LUs that don't come with a color story, but that the total amount of lore per year is ok. With the recent Noxus faction update, we got the main champ of the update (Swain) with a bio and color story, but a selection of other champs only got new bios. There was a faction story too, ofc.

It's a terrible* way to measure it, but hypothetically, if you had a budget of the same total number of words per year, how would you allocate them?

######*But really, it's an abstraction well beyond usefulness, but at least it means we can all talk to each other in this thread in relative terms. So that's something I guess??

Personally I'm ok with them focusing on the bios first and on the color stories later,if this means that we'll get more bios this year than in the last one. After all the bios are the more important part of the champ,as they give the champ their background and solidify their place in the world, while most color stories are just there to add some flavor, which is nice, but not as important as the bio.

I would like to think (yes, optimism is what I'm using) that more frequent means that they're evening out cadence. As in, they could potentially hit the same amount they've been hitting, but more distributed. That way, if they're moving slowly (amount they've given out last year) it will not feel like there's a huge gap or pause in overall lore building. That way, we have a consistent stream of info to dig into, even if it's not as heavy of a load as we're use to.

On the other hand, if it turns out that we do get more than the usual loads we have, then it'll feel like the world is being built at a quicker pace because there's not huge gaps between any one topic of background info. Even if it goes from Noxus to Freljord to Targon back to Noxus, the wait time won't feel too bad since we aren't waiting as long between any story or champ update period.

The word count is understandable, they should have mentioned it earlier. But overall the revisit seems like it will be slow. In fact, champions like Ekko took over a year to get their color stories. Honestly not a fan of some now some later, not a lot of people will be willingly to wait once they know how long it could take.

If they plan to revisit Zaun's lore and actually hit some key points like Jinx/Vi mystery or Piltover's C maybe feel enthusiastic? I just don't like how they just throw a little out there just to be relevant. It leads me to think just like you're stating in this thread; worried. But they've done it long enough now so they don't plan on changing. Things are still tied to releases because idk and lore just takes to long to be delivered. Well the actual lore we want to know, not about a new kingdom in the Noxian empire.

I think you're expected to have thoughts like that.
