Kassadin went from cool to lame. Kai'Sa stole Kassadin's lore. Malzahar is some dude now.

The new Kassadin lore is kinda neutered and lame. You guys at riot just made a guy with some pretty good potential for lore into a crying angry father in a bunch of ancient crap. You replaced his lore with boring fluff thats not at all a concept of character. What WAS his lore you instead made exclusively Kai'sa's. Riot, come on. Get it together. I can't for an instant believe you couldn't make some reason to have Kassadin be Kassadin still. NONE of his kit makes sense now. He's just a thug version of Jayce or Viktor now. He was badass because he went to the void and came back. Now hes just some faceless joker mad a guy he's never met at a place hes never been. Malz is some guy who doesn't care about Kass or Kai and has met neither. They are super boring and super disconnected aside from "OOOoOooOooOoOoohohoho VOOOOIIIIIIIIIIIDDDDDDD STUFF...."

Where's the STORY?

I thought kassadin got his powers from the void, but now he's looks related to the void yet got his stuff from around everywhere. The lore makes it sound like he got a bunch of weapons to take down malz yet his in game look doesn't match up at all. The previous lore was a lot better and aligned more with him Kai'Sa lore is just another zoe. Random ordinary girl gets super powers just by chance. Come on riot at least spread the copies out.

Usually I'm not the complaining type but I have to agree this time. I've either liked or been indifferent to most lore changes. This is the first ones I've honestly disliked. I'm incredibly disappointed in Kassadin's new lore, it's incredibly generic and boring, and the way the supposedly got his name just made me stare at the screen in disbelief that I'm actually reading this on an official lore page.

Malzahar's lore did not change a single bit, and I mean not one iota. It readded the lore he had before the huge retcon.

Kassadin's lore is also exactly the same. Nothing has changed in their lores. The only thing they have done is made the possibly of having a story of Kassadin actually going into the Void.

I don't get what Riot was trying to achieve here. They made his weird Vader VO make a little more sense via the Zaunite Augmentation, at the expense of literally every other aspect of Kassadin. He's no longer corrupted by the Void despite all of his in-game abilities clearly being of Void origin. His Role within the universe got 100% stolen.

He's as much of a Zaun champion now as he is a Void champion.

I think the idea is that this is the chapter 1 of Kassadin, but the Kassadin that we have ingame is the one of chapter 2.

I mean he does travel through the void with his ult, that was confirmed by a rioter in one of the threads about the lore update and that is something that he can't do in the lore at this point.

Can't help myself so have to post.

I don't like the new Kassadin lore, but yeah maybe they'll expand it later on but as it stands right now from what it was previously, I loved that he was a man that went into the void and came back out of it to fight the void and protect runeterra, it was purely that, he was the man that went in and came back something else.

I loved that his daughter is released but they stole kassadin's identity and gave it her. Hell Kassadin's entire concept and most of his kit was built around someone who turned the void into something to use to go around fighting and killing void monsters and the void's lackeys(Malz).

He was the man that came back, she was the lost daughter that made him do so. He went in to go after her and came back as something else: It was a beautiful story of a father that risked his life to brave literally hell and death to find his daughter and when he returned he was forever changed by the horrors and reality of the void and pledged himself to protecting Runeterra from it. His entire kit is based on the Void hell the naming of his abiltiies are based on the meaning of the word Void so now his entire identity is a man that got a ton of powerful artefacts and has never touched the void damages him as a character conceptionally speaking. That really didn't need to happen to release her as a champion.

Now that It merely killed his family and drove him to revenge like a bad Mel Gibson Movie hurts him as Kassadin. He WAS a cool character, he did something NO ONE else had done, everyone had been touched, damaged, corrupted by it but no living thing went in and came back out. HE DID that was why he was cool, both as a concept and character

But they might release a story that has him go in and fix this obvious tarnishing of him as a character to boost sales of Kai'Sa but right now the lore has changed from having entered the void and returned as "Kassadin" to earning the name kassadin by some of the most hogwash piece of writing I've seen in league champion lores and i dislike it.

Kai'Sa is an unoriginal poor man's version of what Kassadin was and no short story is going to change that.

Just my two cents

Yup its the Blizzard syndrome. Like how they took Starcraft lore from being interesting with allot of intrigue to some normie watered down drama.
