So, Burning Tides in a nutshell is

MarshallBananna·8/14/2015, 8:24:38 PM·47 votes·3,755 views

a story about an asshole who wants to kill another asshole, so she has a pair of unrelated assholes set up to draw said asshole into a trap and public assassination, completely disregarding the life of said two other assholes, bystanders caught in the wake of the explosion, and creating power vacuum for all that lesser gangs in Bilgewater to run amok and turn the place into a living hellhole.

Where we supposed to root for someone there?

Not that i'm complaining, but i'm pretty sure MissFortune comes out looking even the worse than Gangplank here.

I was rooting for Gangplank.

Sure he's a heartless, but he kept everyone else in line.

At least lore is more similar to the game now ;)

Well Bilgewater isn't simply a place for goody-two-shoes.

Basically every character in the event fell into a somewhat morally grey zone. TF did leave Graves behind, but actually tried to make up for it and eventually did so. Graves was angry about TF,but he realized his errors and saved TFs life. Gangplank is pretty much the most evil guy out of the 4,but his cruelty served the purpose of unifying bilgewater. Miss fortune wanted revenge for Gps crimes, but didn't take into account the consequences of her actions and was ready to go over corpses to achieve her goals, now she wants to purge Bilgewater from Gps influence, probably believing that a better bilgewater will emerge from the chaos.

All champs have their bad and good sides and that is the best thing about the event, you can't just say "champ A is the good guy&Champ B is the bad one"or that "champ C is the main character of the event".

They took on a Warhammer 40K writer, you should have seen this coming.

ElJanitorFrank8/15/2015, 1:16:25 AM8 votes

No, you weren't supposed to root for anybody. They aren't trying to make MF seem like a hero or anything, they're trying to tell a story.

No good guy, no bad guy, just an event that happened in the world.

I was rooting for Rafen.

I liked the moral ambiguity of it all.

Memejerdomo8/14/2015, 11:05:21 PM3 votes

I think that's kind of what I liked about it. Everybody chose their favorite asshole, and nobody felt like the good guy or the bad guy. Graves + MissFortune ADCs for life!

Kuroi868/15/2015, 3:15:02 AM2 votes

She's a bounty hunter, not a sheriff. She's out for revenge, her lore has always stated this. Those that saw her as a good guy were honestly fooling themselves. The line between good and evil is a lot blurrier than you might think.

Well, I was cheering for TF and Graves. I knew they'd make up if they didn't kill each other first.

But I don't think that a story necessarily needs a clear hero and villain. That's how things are in life, everyone's different shades of questionable.

LeeDark8/15/2015, 8:44:52 AM2 votes

TF is obviously the hero, since the story revealed he didn't abandon Graves on purpose.

Ironclad Dragon8/15/2015, 8:18:03 PM2 votes

MissFortune I'll beat a mofo with another mofo.

Crystallux98/16/2015, 12:17:53 AM1 votes

I think that was the point, actually... It showed that she was really no better than he was, and just as ruthless...

i wanted Graves to finally kill TwistedFate then they made some bullshit about how tf was still graves friend all along

Big Bang Bob8/16/2015, 4:26:22 AM1 votes

I'm still kinda confused about Graves's grudge.

TwistedFate “I tried to get us out. The rest of us saw the job was going south, but you wouldn’t back down. You never do.”

Graves “I told you then, all you had to do was back me up. We would’ve gotten out clean – and rich. But you ran.”

From the sound of things, Graves is mad because TwistedFate ran away during a job when he wanted to stay, which is what got him jailed, except TF warned him about this, so it isn't even really like he betrayed him. It's like Graves ran to engage a 1v5, ignoring all of his teams pings, and then complained about the lack of peel.

I wanted the asshole to win....

The Whamboozler8/15/2015, 7:08:58 AM1 votes

Er, actually TF and Graves didn't come out of it that badly. I mean, they even retconned TF selling out Graves into a job going south and them being unable to get him out. At the end they even reunite as friends. Sure, they're still both thieves, but they're angels compared to MF and GP. Root for them.

uhh... isnt mf pretty clearly the good guy?

Gangplank is an evil bastard who killed her mother and she is unifying bilgewater
