They can, they're just busy doing stuff. You don't just make this stuff up out of thin air y'know.

God,I wonder how long it take Riot's artists to come up with & make a single splash.I imagine it must take at least 15-20 hours across several days (depending on how many time they put into it each day).Much longer for the animated ones.

It is amazing how long drawing can actually take. There are times when I am envious of artists since they can express a scene without having to describe it. But there are also times I'm glad I don't focus on drawing scenes since it feels like too slow of a process compared to writing (that and I change ideas too much to focus on one drawing long enough).

Doesn't count how much art gets scrapped or never released. I don't know what the priorities for Riot's splash artists are, though given the change that they're updating VU'd champion's skin splashes and given the art styles present in said splashes I guess they switched priorities and got more splash artists for the VU team.

Because once you consider it, they might've just thought of doing it and it's part of a new regime for champion updates onward.

I think they will do that at some point. But Riot is busy with Taric atm (and also a lot of balancing adjustments). Also there always is a consistent amount of skins in the works.

So i would expect it to be at some point, but there is so much more high priority stuff a the moment (Lunar Revel Event, Taric Rework, Mage Update, Yorick Rework, Mount Targon Event etc.)

But ya know things like mage update have exactly zero impact on updating splash arts, right?

I think the mage update could be a chance for the splash art team to focus a bit on other skin splash arts for that reason. I mean there will always be a few VUs here and there,which will keep the artists busy,but the mage update focuses only on the gameplay aspect,thus the splash-artists should have a bit more time for older splash arts.

Honestly, unless there is only like one dude doing splash arts, I think they are working on them for some time already, VU or not.

Well I think they said already once that their splash arts are done by multiple people(in that a single splash is already done by multiple ones).

And yeah they'll most likely work on it already,I'm just saying that they will have a bit more time for it when the mage update comes.

Why does everyone complain so much about Nidas splash art? I mean it might not be the best,but it is definetly not really bad either...

Because its a new thing that they previously didn't do. They updated their standards for VUs and thus every new VU is accompanied by updated(or at least adjusted) splash arts.

They will rework the old splash arts for other updated champions(and also the other outdated skin splash arts like they did with assassin yi for example),but that takes time and resources and the skin splashes for the new updates simply take priority over the old ones.
