differents magics?

One of the things I like a lot about the LOL universe is the conception of the magics that come from different realms and runes. I started to think that I understood how different types of magic worked, but recently, a rioter shared a comment about the origin of the magic: "I'm gonna blow your mind.

Aspects, Runes = celestial (ok) Yeti, Chronomancy (?)= elemental Vastaya, Yordle, Shadow, Necromancy = spirit(ok)

Runic = celestial+elemental(what?I thought the runes celestials!?) Ascended = celestial+elemental(why elemental?) Hemomancy = elemental+spirit(why these 2 magics?) Hextech = elemental+spirit (+tech)(dont understand...)

Void = not magic at all"

and also an explanation of the elemental magic that I find very strange: "It’s definitely not just those four. Elemental magic is the magic of the material realm, so any process governed by physical laws (and matter) can be influenced by it, in some combination.

Qiyana’s LoL kit is just 4+passive relating to HER specific style of elemental mastery."

I don t understand that at all. I thought most mages used the magic that comes from runes, but after that, even kegan rhode uses elemental magic: "Kegan Rodhe was definitely also a latent elemental mage.

Brand is something far scarier - the result of thinking rules don’t apply to you..."

did I made a lot of mistakes in my conception of magics? Please, can the writer of this comment explain all this? It is very important for me.

Ok so my breakdown of this is the following: Elemental magic, Celestial magic and Spirit magic are the three big types of magic that all the specific ones derive from these three combining in different ways.

These three are the big three because they each correlate from a realm of existence of magic into three realms.

Elemental (The Physical plane of Reality aka Runeterra which is comprised of the Elements) Spiritual (Spirit Realm) and Celestial (Outer Targon/The Cosmos).

The Void is also a "realm" but its more like an anti-realm. The nothing that gives contrast and meaning to reality so their Void "magic" isn't really magic as you would expect from the Void lol

Lets start with Elemental. Remember when Ryze demonstrated his Elemental magic, lighting a fire and explaining magic to Brand. Ryze technically is an Elemental mage as well as a Celestial one in a sense. Brand himself is on fire (definitely Elemental) and yet a product of the Runes. It actually makes sense that Runic magic is Elemental + Celestial.

Kegan was getting frustrated now. “But that’s how magic works. That’s what my mother always did. She wanted it to do something, so she made it happen.”

The sorcerer suppressed a wince of irritation. “You don’t need to make magic happen. Magic exists in the world. The raw stuff of creation is all around us. You do not need to clutch it, and bend it to your needs. You can just… encourage it. Direct it along the path you would prefer it to take.

Runic magic being both celestial and elemental makes some sense. The Runes were tools used by other beings to create the realm of existence: The Physical Realm. Humans excel at elemental magic because its' very real to us. We can comprehend fire, water, air, time because we are intune with these elements that comprise our world. We can touch, feel and truly understand all of them. Because the elements are physical and not ethereal or transcendental like Spirit and Celestial respectively, it already exists in the world and Runeterrans simply direct it. The Runes are Physical AND Celestial. The Runes are basically Reality given form.

Chronomancy seems like it should be celestial as its' more of a in depth construct than something like fire. Humans still comprehend and are directly effected by time though so it could still qualify as an element. Just a much deeper one.

With Bandle City and Mordekaiser we've learned of the Spirit Realm. They both exists in different planes of this realm and so Yordle magic and Necromantic magic are related if that makes sense. Same with Vastaya magic since the Vastayhsa'rei were spiritual and shadow magic from Nocturnes' bio also is spirit magic.

I don't Understand why Hemomancy Vladimir is Elemental and Spiritual tbh. If it was passed down from the Darkin who were once Ascended it should be Elemental and Celestial just like Runic magic.

Hextech makes perfect sense though. Elemental magic (Jayce hammer uses electricty, Vi Gauntlets are pneumatic so pressure from compressed air).

The Spirit component comes from Skarner Brackern crystals which house the literal SOULS of his kin, making it just like Mordekaiser spirit magic.

Skarner and his kin are known for their great wisdom and deep connection to the land, as their souls are fused with powerful life crystals which hold the living thoughts and memories of their ancestors. The tech is just a more optimal housing for humans that aren't gifted with magic to use it. Like an iPhone empowering someone who can't program in a way.

All that in mind look at Ekko now: Element (Chromomancy) + Spirit (Brackern Soul) + Tech (Z-Drive) and boom Hextech Time Magic!

It's clear Riot has been putting some serious thought into encoding a hard magic system and all the stories from the last year have been teaching us some of the fundamentals.

Go back and read these for more context on each of the big three:

Elemental - Ryze and Brand (From The Ashes), Ixtal (Region) and Qylana Celestial - The Darkin (Twilight of the Gods) , Soraka (Halfway Between the Stars and Earth), Spiritual - Neeko (The Monster of Kalduga Outpost), Mordekaiser (The Final Reign), Bandle City (The Whispering Doodad), Nocturne bio

Within this framework all of these stories become richer because now magic isn't just magic like in a soft magic system it's SCIENCE and it makes sense.
