But honestly, they're adorable. They're a pair of ~~horny~~ angsty emotional pubescent teenagers you'd expect from an old Cartoon Network show. I may not be 100% fine with their kits but their personalities and interactions are top notch. You'd be surprised how many sexual innuendos these two can squeeze into an hour of dialogue and a rated T game.

Lore, art, and VO teams get exponentially better with each release and rework, I'm telling you. Rakan's first 15 minutes of dialogue is pure nightmare fuel but otherwise the two of them are frickin' adorable. I'll probably be making a lot of threads about these two in the coming days.

The voiceover files aren't meant to be listened to like an album, they are the file that gets called in game to get the sound clips. Why would you not want your sound clips sorted in an easy to parse manner? Maybe they could do something on release of a new champ where they highlight the lines but that's not what ff@20 has from datamining the game files.

Yeah, just because you can predict people being absolutely stupid, doesn't mean you need to make your client sub par (which I would say choosing a suboptimal organization which guarantees slower response time because your search time for those is lowered would count as such).

There is a difference between a technical implementation that makes sense because it's faster, more RAM efficient, and just in general smarter (which organization of VO files WOULD fall under), and 'omg people can't figure shit out. let's make it so THEY can hear it better and then bitch about how our client is bad.'

It would be like rearranging a car engine so it's guaranteed to be half as efficient for no other reason because than you can see it better with zero information at the inner workings... or making tires square because people are too dumb to figure out circles and try to stand them up and constantly lose them cuz they roll down hills (since they're too dumb to figure out to lay them on their side).

Your analogy is completely flawed. I'm 99.9% sure that the VO file is fully loaded in memory when the game starts, and even if it wasn't, it makes no sense to have all versions of the same trigger consecutively, because it is very unlikely that you will use all of them in a row, to the contrary. The only thing that would be impacted is that it would be a tiny bit less practical to write the code for the human scripters when hooking the champ. But the efficiency of the client? Nothing to do with what we're talking about.

I'm not going to go into much about how exactly wrong this would be from an efficiency stand point... especially when people already complain about how bad the client is. But absolutely 100% wrong to try to use 'what makes sense to listen to' as an organizational pattern.

I'm doing a PhD in Computer Sciences...

Currently, the VO file is sorted by kind of trigger and start with the "Attack" triggers. Keeping the same structure and simply putting the "Taunt" triggers or whatever as the first category would solve the problem people like me are complaining about here. It's simple, and it doesn't change a SINGLE thing to the efficiency or quality of the client.

In fact, the VO file could be in a totally random order, that wouldn't change anything to the efficiency of the client. The only thing that would change is that it would be tedious to write the mapping between a timer in the VO file and a trigger event in-game, so probably more mistakes due to human errors, but still absolutely no efficiency issue.

In my experience, people who have PHDs in "Comp Sci" don't how to develop. They know the theory, but don't know how to put it into practice. Think the difference between a physicist and a machinist. Sure, let's just accept the scientist may know the science more, but putting into practice is definitely different.

Tldr; I've always out programmed the comp sci majors with PHD's that I've met. I've met about 15 by now.

I've always summed it up as... "In theory, practice and theory are the same, but in practice, theory and practice aren't the same."

You may or may not "out program" me, the thing is, that's not exactly what is at hand here. I may not be able to program League's client myself, but I can definitely make an educated guess about how it works and how it was designed without having ever seen the code. The same way your machinist has to be trained to use every different machine whereas the physicist can't operate a single one sure, but still knows the general principles of all of them and can explain how they work with just a glance.

And I can tell you: what we're talking about here, I may not know how it is implemented exactly, but that's definitely not a performance/efficiency bottleneck. It's a convenience issue for the scripters who have to hook it up in the beginning, but once the hooks are in place, it doesn't change anything.

Lots of champions have a whimsical exterior but pretty deep VOs - Kled, Ivern, Tahm, Aurelion, etc.

Some have very serious ones that can also make you laugh - Jhin, Warwick, a few others.

League's world is just so amazing, and its characters so rich. That's part of the reason it's world is so vastly superior to other MOBAs.

That's a common misconception. There's a difference between being a misanthropist and being a blatant racist or choosing to use far more harsh and racist language against certain groups.

The truth is that most hateful people start out by hating themselves, and they choose to vent that frustration out on everyone else. Hatred toward a group of people based on their race is racism flat out. Doesn't matter if you hate everyone else too.

Promoting your cause is one thing. Demeaning everyone else, as a group, because they aren't part of your cause? That's probably the reason they aren't part of your cause.

That being said, it's perfectly valid to create complex and problematic characters. But if you don't recognize it, you're not wielding the tool properly. I have faith in Rito though. They're doing good work.

Yes they retconned the lore but it gives more clarity of how a knife cat and spirit fox fit into the bigger picture, it's upfront for now but I'm sure it'll sink in
