As long as there's idiots without impulse control who ARE willing to spend 200$ to gamble for that skin, Riot will keep making hextech-exclusive skins. Don't blame Riot; blame those people.
Darius gets an exceptional non-comedy bad-ass skin and it's hidden behind Gemstones. Something most people deemed completely useless and pointless and just turn them into chests. I mean I didn't agree with Soulstealer Vayne being hidden behind the gemwall either, but at least she got Arclight a bit before it... and Annie has a thousand skins that amplify her theme in various ways.
I see a new Darius skin, that's not goofy(I like Dunkmaster, but c'mon it IS goofy). I think about time, I get to upgrade from Lord Darius/Woad Darius to another true Bad-ass skin.. Nope, guess not.. ugh.. I hate when they tie things into the convoluted hextech system

Already left a couple comments about this on other threads but yeah this is the dumbest thing ever, I hate Gemstone Skins, I play Annie alot and fuck me I guess if I want Hextech Annie, let me just drop a dumb amount of money on chests to gather up gemstones if I EVER wanted the skin. I don't play Darius alot so i don't have a skin but i'd defiantly want this one for when i do play him cause I love it.

People have been asking for more Hextech Gem skins, so they will be making them. This is just the next one in the line up.
I hope they never make a gemstone skin for any of my mains, because I'll never be able to get that shit.
I don't buy boxes, I earn them. It's extra free content. I spend time I would be already doing.

It dosent have to be 200+,but I do agree chests are expensive if you want something badly from them or you can get lucky and get the shard,im glad i saved gemstones for a moment like this
You can still just get lucky and open it from a chest/reroll. That's how I got Hectech Annie.
They DID say they would release 1 per year, and also it is a sort of "Hell yeah i got this cool thing" Stamp
