How comes Nidalee still refers to the player as 'summoner' and I'm sure there is at least one more. Sona talks to the player but I don't remember if she uses the term 'summoner'. Anyway this game is stupid. Champions with strengths get wrecked by the nerf bat and now the lore doesn't exist in spite of promises.

According to the new storyline canon, Summoners, the Institute of War, and the League of Legends itself do not exist and never did.
The storyline canon will have no in game effects. This means that all champions that currently refer to the Summoner will continue to do so, and Riot will continue to address players as Summoners.
No VO changes are planned, and champions as Lux, Sona, Nocturne, etc, will continue to address the player as Summoner.
Because Riot's "lore" team didn't think it through when they decided to wreck the established canon.
The current "lore" is filled with more holes than a metric ton of Swiss cheese. Demigods casually wander throughout Runeterra, unchecked, and there's nothing stopping the various nations from ripping everything apart via magical warfare, now. In all seriousness, what chance does 
stand against 
without the Institute of War around to handicap extremely powerful champions?
The main point is that many of the reasons that some champions are who they are, is because of the Institute of War
Riot have been trying to avoid theses VO lines that refer to Summoners ever since they started building the retcon, I think (I might be wrong though). I believe that Nidalee's lines were recorded before the retcon was being worked on.
I kinda prefer being referred to as a Summoner
The actual and simple reason is that VOs are very hard to redo. Its why skins that with a VO thrown in already have a higher price tier than normal.
