What are you guys in the Narrative department striving for?

What role do you want the lore of LoL to have within the games narrative?

What is your ideal narrative direction for Runeterra to develop?

Did you read my post? I'm asking Riot to clarify that!

(edit: What you may not understand is that narrative is different than lore, yet related, hence the question.)

Anyways, I'm not sure what's best, I can only say that I would like to see the lore of every champion to be comprehensively interconnected to one another, like they were when the Institute of War was a thing. That made Runeterra seem like an actual world, where the events in one nation had an affect on the other nations.

One reason why this is lacking at the moment, is because there is no longer any information given to us about the average citizen of Runeterra, which we used to get through the Journal of Justice.

We may get a cover story on individual champions now, but we don't hear much about Runeterra.

Right now if feels like each group of champions exist in different worlds where there isn't any connection between the factions.

To me at least, sections of Runeterra feel like they've been compartmentalized.

But anyways, this thread was about asking Riot what their chosen lore direction is, so it would be nice if we could get some more info on that.

To me it feels like factions are just getting a conflict with another faction and that's about it. Freljord with itself. Noxus and Demacia/Ionia. Bilgewater and the Shadow Isles. Shurima and the void. Bandle city seems safe so far but might just get trouble with the Kumungu jungle at this rate.

In the IoW not every faction was just locked in a conflict with one other faction. Heck, if I got it right from the red posts about the Harrowing, Demacia doesn't know about the Bilgewater/Shadow Isles conflict. It's as you say, they seem just isolated.

On top of that, I feel like characters aren't people. They aren't as deep and complex, they just feel like characters. I loved this in Dawngate, characters felt like they were actually people, not just summed up in a sentence or three. Azir with his extended background does this quite well, Xerath/Kalista/Rek'Sai/Amumu (with the leaked one)/Sejuani/the imposterous Trundle/Lissandra not so much. They don't really feel alive. They're just side-characters in a story that serve a purpose and their character is designed just to serve that purpose.
