Why Is Narrative Ignoring These Ideas?

http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/krpYhq3T-riot-shouldve-closed-the-league-through-writing-rather-than-a-retcon I mean, I can understand not wanting to deal with angry fans, I too am one. I've made some really stupid comments too, I'm trying to be better now though. I was not fond of the retcon, after I had read every bit of old lore before hand. The retcon just made me legitimately depressed about writing in general, because it kept making me think, if I write something, no matter how much I like it, someone who completely hates that one thing may be put in charge of it, and completely remove it, that's an honestly horrifying thought to be honest.

Also, this thread brings up a pretty good point. http://boards.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/c/story-art/7IjuJyWQ-we-still-dont-have-a-good-reason-for-why-the-league-had-to-be-closed The only apparent reason seems to be, they didn't like it as a set-up to a lot of a characters, and/or they completely misconstrued the capacity the Institute in the lore. Maybe the Institute was too powerful in lore, so why not just do a retcon that just cleaned things up, instead of completely removing them? Now, it just doesn't feel right, every other MOBA has an explanation for what goes on in the game itself, except for League now. This is really disappointing.

You can change characters without removing the old plot you know? I know I wouldn't mind that, I mean after reading the new Xerath story again, and with a little help, I understood it as it should be, but it still took help to get there. Xerath gets more character, and story connections, great! I'm more annoyed by the fact that none of the female characters did anything, and a few other things I will not bring up, as it does not pertain to the thread. However, it seems like you just want to ignore anybody who doesn't want to go along with every decision you come to, even if it's well constructed. A healthy design philosophy deals with not just questions, and praise, but also legitimate critiques you know? Now it's only seeming to get worse as the community has been split among "New" and "Old" lore supporters, with the "Accepters" in the middle. I liked the old lore, but that does not mean I am not open to changes happening, however these changes were just not right for the actual universe of League. It doesn't Feel right anymore. I can't go Rammus "Okay" anymore, I can't mourn Urf anymore, I can't attempt to Draven harder than other Draven's now.

We were also called a "Handful Of Opinions" by one Rioter, which is honestly pretty annoying, why even have boards if you end up calling the people on them that? If we're the handful, then a handful is all you're really going to get, even less if you treat your fan-base like that. "Vocal Minority" is also a pretty bad excuse, since most of League's community still does not care about lore. It's pretty much only us Riot, we aren't the best, but we do care about this. Please stop treating us like idiots.

I know it's probably a futile request but, please, can a red respond to this, without making jokes. I actually want to be civil here. This all just feels so wrong for a community driven game, now please excuse me as my depression is acting up from a lack of sunlight and community discussion. Time to wallow I guess.

I feel very similarly about it not feeling right. I've written fanfics, RP'd, and loved the lore to bits, but now it just feels so empty. All these Reds ignoring our pleas and requests to talk doesn't help.

I feel that a lot of the time people forget that part of the reason Runeterra doesn't feel right at the moment is because riot has barley done anything to take Runeterra in the direction they said they were. They had the Shurima lore change and they touched on a few shadow isles champs so that there lore didn't mention the IOW. That's it that's all.

After you take something out that was a big part of the world your characters inhabited and not do anything to fill that hole, of course its gonna feel wrong I would be amazed if it didn't. They just created a giant hole in there world and haven't done anything yet to patch it up.

So I think we should wait to see what riot comes up with to fill that hole and see what they do going forward.

To summarize my post: Riot hasn't done anything to fill the hole they made by taking out the IOW. so yes Runeterra feels off. but to see if this was a good choice or not we have to wait to see what they come up with.

its not "pretty much only us" as you say. heres me: lore fan, happy with the retcon, not interested in being involved in the creative process. i want riot writers to write the lore (at their pace) and not just anyone who decided hes good at writing and heres his fanfic. riot should absolutely not make lore a communal effort.

Ok, you seriously can't say 'every other MOBA', when even DoTA 2 has no story to speak of. Its literally "There is this side, and there is that side. They hate each other. So they grab random people to fight for them."
