Did Freljord suffer from the magical and technological downgrade?

Looking at Lissandra, I see that her design is very futuristic, especially her helmet. But looking at Tryndamere, Sejuani and Ashe, I'm starting to think that these lands have suffered from a big step backwards. I'll tell you what does it remind me of. TES: Skyrim and nords. Many years ago, Ysgramor and his mighty people have built Skyrim with the power of telekinesis, moving giant stones by force of will. But at the 4 era (the moment when we have visited Skyrim) nords hate magic and stick with the brute strength and agility. http://static-3.nexusmods.com/15/mods/110/images/53581-1-1398784975.jpg As well as Ysgramor was an ancient hero, there were ancient heroes who have beaten Lissandra. Could it be that those heroes also had superior weapons and magic, compared to the more feral Tryndamere and company? And where did their heritage go?

So in ancient Freljord, the inhabitants were visited by mysterious entities known as the frozen watchers.The Freljord inhabitants of those times made a deal with the watchers to serve them in exchange for immortality and other powerful magics.Those infused with these magics were called iceborn.

Over time though the Iceborn grew discontent with their circumstances and so the ancestors of Ashe Sejuani led a war against the watchers to free themselves.The Iceborn were free but over time they died out and without the watchers no new iceborn were "made".

Nowadays Freljord is full of just normal humans with only one iceborn remaining Lissandra , which ties back to why she seems so "advanced" compared to the barbarian hordes.

Thank you! So Braum is confirmed to be Iceborn as well? Or could it be that Braum is living through generations, as his weapon is always being passed from father to his son, creating an illusion of an immortal friendly moustached being? Or is he one of those heroes who have beaten Lissandra and that's why she avoids him? Watchers. If one of them (or more) "will return", I'm really curious about their level (progress state) of power.

currently we do not know how braum is able to live through the generations,but they already hinted that this is indeed intentional and will be solved later

To touch on that ancient magic bit mentioned here and elaborate a bit for you Mr. Krizalid Brando, the Iceborn's magic allowed them mastery over ice and also allowed them to utilise a material known as True Ice: magical ice that doesn't melt, even when put to fire. Quite a few in game items are made of True Ice, such as these: item 3184 item 3092 item 3098 item 3022 item 3025 item 3112

The magical properties of True Ice are something that doesn't seem to be easily accessible to most humans, but for Freljordians its possible, at least for some of them, because "the ice in their blood is strong"; the Iceborn were essentially magically altered humans, and as such could likely still procreate with other humans, producing babies that still had some of that magic in their veins.

True Ice is utilised by Ashe and Sejuani due to the fact they are direct descendants of some powerful Iceborn, and as such still have a good deal of that magic flowing in their veins.

It's also utilised by Braum and Trundle , presumably because of their own strong connections; Braum likely has a strong connection to his Iceborn ancestors (or is maybe an Iceborn himself), while Trundle, being a Troll, likely has a natural connection to Freljord through evolution and such; Freljord Trolls are native to the landwhile Humans likely migrated there from further south thousands of years prior.
