Vastayas are a new humanoid specie introduced in LoL's lore, which are mixes between an animal(s) and a human. The next upcoming champ are (it's a double champ apparently) vastayas.
In the end of the journal, Ahri is mentioned but it is not determined if she is a Vastaya or not. Since Rengar and Wukong are both some sort of humanoid animals, are they Vastayas as well?

Arakadia1 votesI totally agree. Soraka hasn't had too much interaction besides Warwick and Irelia, one or whom seems to be removed from her lore, and no interaction with face to face dialogue. It would be cool to see more of who she is rather than "love and healing and woo!"
After thinking about it, Warwick could still be heavily connected to Soraka. Hrmmm..
JustNaes1 votesWith the new Vastaya lore WW can be an artificially created Vastaya due to Singed's experiments OR he is actually Vastayan, but very diluted (like one twelfth Vastayan) and Singed just spliced WW's DNA to show his Vastayan roots.
Aside from using Raka's blood/fluids/etc. for the experiment, I can't necessarily see the link between Soraka and WW now. "Long ago they knew/met each other" trope seems like a super stretch, also with the new lore overhaul, WW is just another Zaunite thug gone twisted vigilante and would have nothing to do with Soraka so I don't see any connection between the two.
Aurelion Sol has a quote with Soraka where he hints at her confusion of what she is. It may imply she's a celestial being/aspect, but also Vastayan so not sure where she belongs. I think it would be a very interesting dynamic to explore.

Therefore, Ahri can't be a Kumhio since they don't exist in Runeterra. However, Vastayas do exist, and we can and must consider her as such.

Is clearly based off the Kumiho / Kitsune myth, without a doubt, however her canon lore is a Runeterran parallel to that myth with Riot's own spin. Therefore, canonically, she is not titled Kumiho because she is in fact Vastayan, something specific to what her story is. She is, however, influenced by real life myths.
