If Urgot spearhead Noxus faction update. What is a plan for Swain in this ?

I know this is too soon to tell but this is just my curious. If the team decides to use Urgot as a spearhead of Noxus lore update How could they update Swain lore in this process without a clear direction for his identity first? since Swain still has been waiting for VGUs?

The most possible way I can think of is what they did to Eve in Shadow Isle faction update last year. Anyway, I feel like this approach would not do justice to him because he is the face of modern Noxus. Faction representative like Viktor got his major lore update in Zaun event and I think J4 would have the same treat in (upcoming?) Demacia faction update.

I really hope that ignoring him in Noxus faction update by just putting a short description indicating "Coming Soon" wouldn't be a choice because it could be one of the most nonsensical deed Riot has ever made.

If I had to guess: Urgot will be looking into common Noxian society and what it means to be a 'hero' in the empire.

Lore that comes out with Swain will probably focus more around political intrigue in High Command.

Uhm I'd argue that if there is one champ who can represent Zaun better than anyone else it'd be Singed . I mean he is one of the earliest and most iconic champs of the game,uses chemicals which are much more common among Zaun-champs(and zaun in general) than technological gadgets,fits pretty well with zauns color scheme and I think his ideal of progress for the sake of science regardless of the consequences to others represents Zauns ideology better than anyone else.

And he did not get a big lore update.

Swain will be like Eve was for the Shadow Isles lore - given a vague bit of flavor with a story that doesn't actually have any relation to who they actually are, and instead focuses on their current dealings.

They do have a direction for him though... He is the master tactician of Noxus, how hard is it to write a story about a guy commanding armies and meddling in black magic behind the scenes. VGU's have nothing to do with lore, unless the champion is depicted in a serious fight, they are having problems gameplay-wise not lore-wise as far as I know.

They had random things like him needing to kill soraka and take her heart and stuff. The core of it remained the same, Singed gave him some kind of schemical which results in his transformation, in other words they just removed the unnecessary soraka bits. You really can't take away from what I said above, he IS the commanding general of Noxus and he has connections to the Black Rose that is his character.

From what you said. I think the right word should be VGUs has nothing to do with "Champ theme/archetype" not lore.

He is the game's master tactician carefully and sinsterly plotting behind the scenes but he plays like any other tank, charging into the enemy team. VGU's are used to bring out the archetype of a champion, the reason he was put off is because they realized he need s bigger work gameplay-wise, due his archetype being so far from how he plays today, if they just changed him to be the cunning general he is supposed to be, billions of ppl would complain about them not retaining the champion 'they liked'.

Champion's such as Mordekaiser and Pantheon who also need help gameplay-wise in bringing out their archetype also got lore updates long ago, they could quite very easily write a lore for him.

OK I will try to explain this to you.

When you say "VGU's have nothing to do with lore" that means whenever Riot reworks any champs they will not try to change, add, alter etc lore/story of them. In other words, they will left their lore/story untouched which isn't true. As I pointed to Warwick's lore and you even said that "they just removed the unnecessary soraka bits." which really means they "changed" or did something else with his story.

Even they replace Swain's ravens with trash doves and don't touch any of his "high commanding general gifted in/cursed by black magics that allow him to transform into a giant bird-like creature." This is still has something to do with his "lore".

What you said about "he IS the commanding general of Noxus and he has connections to the Black Rose that is his character." or "high commanding general gifted in/cursed by black magics that allow him to transform into a giant bird-like creature." THESE are "champion's theme/archetype".

And what i was trying to explain to you, was that as long as they kept those things they could write the lore now and rework him later, effectively meaning that he doesn't need to wait until he gets a VGU to get an updated lore.

We see this in Jax's new story where apparently he is from Icathia, but none of his current gameplay would suggest any of that, hence this is a case where the lore and timing of the VGU are independent of each other, at a later point he will be reworked to coincide with the lore.

I also said VGU's have nothing to do with the lore because I mean to imply that champions can be given lore and reworked at any other point, which is the point of these lore updates, look at how many champions are different in lore compared to their current models and kits. I suppose a better phrasing would be lore changes can be independent of VGU's.
