As a Viktor main

Hearing Ekko's taunt "You're everything wrong with Zaun" It made me sad, not mad. Jayce's lore made me mad. Ekko gives a different vibe. Ekko sees Viktor as someone who has gone too far, as as one of the two champions that he talks/taunts with the most (Vi). But how would Viktor react to this accusation? Viktor was driven mad with grief after Blitzcrank, who Viktor might view as a son, was stolen away from him. Would Viktor lash out at Ekko for this, or instead attempt to reason with him? I see Viktor as Vulcan, the Roman god of the forge, a layer of calm with an uncontrollable rage underneath.

The other comment Ekko makes to Viktor, "You think you're Zaun? Prove it!" This seems to be interesting, as Viktor could be seen as one of the prime examples of a Zaunite. Unbridled technology advancement is one of the hallmarks of Zaun, so why would Ekko say something like that?

I don't think Viktor would really care. What few emotions he has left (or allows to be seen) seem very focused on a particular credit stealer we all hate. I'm not even sure Viktor is overly angry with Jayce.

Does Viktor even identify himself as a Zaunite anymore? He knows he is something new, a vision of what Valoran could be, however we don't know just how pragmatic post-augmentation Viktor really is. To others Viktor seems to be all that Zaun strives for, but perhaps Viktor has outgrown Zaun.

Or perhaps Ekko has seen things Viktor never wanted to be revealed. Perhaps he knows the truth of things without Viktor's knowledge. Perhaps Viktor is not as much of a machine as he would have us think, and is still governed by petty emotions he just couldn't get rid of.

I think Ekko saying that Viktor is everything bad in Zaun might be meant in more than one way.

On the one hand Viktor has shown already that he is ready to use violence for his goals, which represents how zaunite scientists are doing their scientific research at the expense of their regular citizens. However on the other hand Viktor himself is a victim of the zaunite law, with piddly stealing viktors inventions and getting all the glory for them.

So yeah he kinda represents both aspects of Zaun that are wrong.

Just think of some thug talking trash to some kind of mastermind that have made interesting weapons, robots, and the like.

That's Ekko vs. Viktor for ya.

I don't think Viktor would really care too much. Would you be particularly affected if a kid half your age started challenging you?

My VERY first assumption is that, Ekko, being from a gang and all, would have had some run-in with Viktor's acolytes in which he was offered the chance to get all augmented.

After all, most of the acolytes would naturally be downtrodden randoms or sickly willing to volunteer for a better life, wouldn't they?

Maybe a friend got augmented? Maybe something went wrong? Who knows? But that was my first impression. :P

Are we sure that's towards Viktor? As a Vik main and familiar with his lore do you know about Nikola Tesla? It is very sad to see geniuses like this so misunderstood, and hated because of ignorance.

Im so conflicted, I really like Jayce (cause Tony Stark type of character), but I really like Viktor (cause he is basically Nikola Tesla of Runeterra and is intentionally made to look like "the bad guy" cause they did the same to Tesla when he was around, see scumbag Edison).

I think Ekko views Viktor as a monument to the downsides of Zauns very way of life. I think capitalism is a very good thing, but a slave owner shows what happens when it goes to far. A slave owner will have used capitalism to undermine its very ideal: Freedom. In the same way Viktor is taking Zauns ideals to start the Glorious Evolution, but in doing so is removing the individualism that made Zaun what it is.

I'm just happy Ekko is finally making the Viktor fanboys question their flawless idol's position a bit. So many times I've read threads like this, people bashing Jayce for absolutely no reason.

Who cares what Viktor thinks, he's the villain.

Looks like someone needs an evolution.

Because Viktor cool as he is, is a madman his cybernetics drove him insane leaving only resentment and anger, he wants to force his upgrades on everyone even though they are dangerous and make the users crazy, Like it or not Vik is the villain, he is in the wrong, just because you like magnito more then prof X doesn't magiclly make him the good guy,

My current view is this

  • Viktor is not native to Zaun, this would also explain his strange accent.
  • Viktor came to Zaun perhaps on the zaunite equivalent to a scholarship.
  • This was a huge opportunity for Vik and he wanted to return the favor making Zaun a better place.
  • This made Vik rather popular with the lower classes of Zaun and perhaps inspirational to some new techmaturgical geniuses.
  • Viktor disappears for years and when he returns he is no longer a champion of the lower class of Zaun and now puts progress over humanity like other major Zaun scientists. While he may not do anything worse than Mundo or Singed (probably not even on the same scale of atrocities) every bit he does stings much worse because these people feel betrayed by someone who once seemed to have their best interest.

Soooo what does the title "As a victor main" have to do with the post itself?

To go back on points I've already made, Ekko doesn't know Viktor like we do. To us, Viktor is a tragic character who had everything he achieved stolen from him and was finally pushed to the state he is in now. To Ekko Viktor's a man who disregards human emotion and morality, a man who disregards the consequences of his technology and lets it run free and rampant, making life in Zaun even worse. If there weren't already psychotic murderers and environmental hazards to deal with now there's robots and cyborgs outfitted with incredibly dangerous weaponry wandering the streets.

Actions define what you think about a person even if you know about their past, and since Ekko doesn't, he ONLY has Viktor's actions to go on, which has been introducing a new threat to Zaun; dangerous robots and mechanically altered people.

That's it for lore? So you got 2 lines to taunt with that you can only use if you're in the same game and the opposing team doesn't try and kill you while you stand there mashing control 3?
