But for a lot of bronze and silver players who legitmately worked hard to improve themselves and climb to gold or higher, its a reward for their efforts. Some it takes 50 games, others 1000, but they earned it. I was a dumb bronze at the start of this season, and I stressed the shit outa myself to improve after every lost and win to climb to gold, i set that goal for myself and I'm proving all those assholes that call me a dumb bronze with a victorious skin, but maokai?
The issue with maokai is its rarity as a champion, it was only dominate for like 2 or 3 patches before people realized ekko and fizz were just as if not better than what he did, and he doesn't represent season 6 at all.
You can tell me jarvin was a strong champion you remember from season 1.
You can tell me elise was incredibly too dominant in season 3 and cancer
What can you tell me represents season 6? If you said 
You deserve a medal.
If you said maokai I'd ask where have you been for season 6.
Thats why people are upset, it wasn't a strong season 6 champion to begin with an feels like a miss oppertunity, nobody would complain if mao was actually played throughout the season or strong throughout worlds, but he feels so off meta that the victorious skin for him just doesn't seem right and not too many actually play him to use the skin.
