I think this is one of those "you're never supposed to know" situations. Simply put: Riot won't answer.

To be fair, if I were to go into those "you're never supposed to know" situations, I would actually bring them to get deeper into the character possibly revealing something, but bringing up a different mystery along with the reveal. It's a common tactic that is not used enough.
