Copying what i said on PBE boards, but this needs to be adressed and seen.

Sorry for the clickbait title, i mean they seem really too much the same. I seriously hope this is just placeholder because many people complained about Dark Form being too subtle and i think it might just be 'till @Riot_iZac works on it (he has been promoting effects on twitter but avoiding Dark Form so...fingers crossed) :

Some mild differences only because i couldn't capture at the same exact split second, but you see the stuff. See at the bottom of the post for proof comparison with other forms.

Here is the E where you can see, despite the middle projectile, that the ambiant effects are exactly the same (and that's no coincidence, other forms have it WAY MORE differently) :

Same thing for R, you can clearly see the trail particles around the laser that are unique to those 2 forms :

And W...which is basically the same for all forms with added details so not much here :

All other forms have really different effect, water being the most obvious because of the E splash. So i really doubt this is a coincidence.

Here are some other forms below fire & dark for you to see that this is really just the Dark form having the same particles than Fire form, in purple.

As you can see, Water and Magma have their unique particles by FAR. Only Dark Form has this issue being the same as Fire.

Problem : E is too subtle, needs more particles more "shroud" like. It could be the opposite of the light E for the best, but right now it doesn't really appeal as Darkness... For the rest, i don't know tbh.

I don't think Dark Lux is in its final form yet ... there's a note on the PBE saying there are possibly a few more changes to some of the forms. Good job pointing this out, I had a feeling that Dark Lux's particles didn't look as unique as the other models...

Fingers crossed for Void Lux... All the forms are insanely great, but Dark one is just too similar to fire.

On her Ice Form she using the sound effect of Star Guardian Lux on E. Is it a PBE Bug?

We did have some issues with the audio building out. I believe this is fixed with the latest PBE build heading out today. :)

Ok, thanks for the update! There was a line on the PBE page at surrenderat20 that said "Lux is still mastering her last few forms, please hang tight," so it made me think there could be a few changes.

A question to kind of pick your brain on this skin and future ultimate skins (when you have a moment, of course).

Are you and the other people that work on skins concerned that Elementalist Lux raises the bar for ultimate skins too high for future ones down the line?

Heyo, Tech Artist / Art Lead on skins team here.

I think we're always trying to raise the bar, especially on huge projects like ultimate skins. I'm not super concerned about the bar being too high, because a) those challenges are exciting, and b) I think we'll try to make the next one ultimate in a different way. Anything is possible, but I'd be surprised at this point if our next ultimate tried to raise the bar with just "omg moar forms!" Ten is a lot, and we had a lot of challenges on elementalist Lux that we learned from. So TL;DR, I think we're excited to figure out what we'll do next time. :)

Wow, thank you for the quick reply JesterCapp. Two short follow up questions. With bar being raised for ultimate skins, does this 1) mean previous skins will receive upgrades (VGUs?) in some way? 2) Will the price for ultimate skins go up as they receive more effects/particles/voiceover lines/etc.?

I realize you may not have the answers, but just curious on your insight when you have a moment. Cheers again for the reply.

you dont really expect riot to make 9 completely different skins and sell them all for 3250 no?

i realize they are just recolors but thats ok as far as i am concerned, i will likely break my 3 years no purchase streak for this skin.

All 10 forms expect Dark have unique and varied particles with very different them than others, that's why i made the comparison in the botton of my post. Yes, i expect Riot to make 10 completely different skins since they confirmed working on it since February which is 9 months and it's a ultimate skin. They are FAR from recolors, you should really inform yourself better on the skin...

Each form has it's voice over, effects, model, splash etc..

Can confirm too, i can't believe he took the time to answer! I wanted to edit my title because afterwards i felt this was really mean to say, it does seem similar to me but "copy/past" is just rude, i hope he didn't take it bad. Thanks again!

We aren't currently, and I don't know if there are plans to at all. I can tell you that you get elemental power two ways; damaging enemies and by passively gaining elemental power. We based the timing off of an average game, but with the idea that there are also surrender options available, and don't want you stuck in light form throughout the entire game. We played with the timing of this more than I'd like to admit, but we think it's in a good spot where you'll be happy with the timing in terms of being able to swap into the form you'd like - even if that form is one of the final forms.

...honestly i don' t see what do you intend as copypaste. I can see they are very similiar behind the colour change, but is not that intended? They must look similar because those are identical spells. They can have different flourish and sometimes that gets expressed better but they must not change too much dramatically, and in either case it does not look as a copy paste aniway.

It wouldn't be that obvious if all others forms didn't have such unique and different particles and weirdly only Dark & Fire have those ones being too close to be a coincidence. When i said copy/paste, of course that's not a litteral copy/paste but they do seem similar in some way!

They are somewhat similar in concept since that "dark" is somewhat similar to "shadowflame" or "anty-mattery thing that defies phisics" , but the difference ends there :P

For example the fire one has a whispy trail around the particle, while the dark one has a more heavy trail and the particles swirling around are more "compressed" to give less the idea of being sparks. If you think they should have been made more diverse then i can agree, but if you say that those are a copypaste is exxagerated.

Well...i mean, those screenshots speak for themselves really the particles are litteraly the same in movement that's why i put them side by side. Don't you agree that the Fire E and Dark E looks extremely similar? Considering how it changes for Water & Magma as i have shown, i find it really odd. Imo it just lacks visibility, it's too subtle.

Its just me, but I like the dark version not bein gsuper flashy, or having lots of particle effects, being quiet, silent, and non flashy.
