Sharjo4 votesI assume they mean Bilgewater's about a sea faring society that hunts sea monsters and is a conglomerate of various races and nations from across Valoran and its various isles.
Also Bilgewater has four human champions, only one of which is a pirate. That's like 25% pirate representation.
So Bilgewater isn't 100% about pirates, even though there are pirate around.

It just makes me sad; it's like saying 'Targon isn't really about greek mythology'- i can see why they'd say so, but it removes a lot of what made it fun in the first place. I guess i just liked the pirate-ey side of Bilgewater.
Sharjo2 votesTo be fair, Targon's about basically nothing. It's got hints of greek stuff and...that's it. I mean greek themes is likely where they'll take the mighty mountain and its mighty people, but right now it's one of the least defined spaces in Valoran.
I feel like the fact there's more than just pirates in Bilgewater opens up for more viewpoints and story angles. I can see the potential for a sea-monster hunting champion of legend or something. Just because there's more than just pirates doesn't mean the pirates aren't important, I mean Gangplank's one of the major political figures in Bilgewater right now considering the extent of his influence and power.
Merxamers2 votesTrue, true; Targon, like most of Runeterra, is mostly a bunch of blank space. I do hope they don't minimize the pirate element, it would feel like what Riot has been doing for a good long while (removing cliches and tropes from their story, at the cost of anything that was fun or interesting about them). I guess we'll have to wait and see! (and live with what we're given :P)
The Only Doctor1 votesI mean, if you want to talk Bilgewater champ POVs, i think the only one they're really leaving out of it is Fizz right now. TF, Graves, and GP have all already made it into the event's story, and where GP goes, MF invariably follows. So I think that unless they're going to address something more (new champ or something), this is the best we'll get for new viewpoints
