Lore inconsistencies in the New Warriors 2020 Cinematic

So i think no one, literally no one can say the new cinematic is anything short of badass, amazing, ecs ecs. The fact that its all Lore videos which are cannon makes it awesome-r.

But, after the hype died down a bit, two things irked me. Lore is awesome, but the difference between amazing lore and mediocre one is when you have inconsistencies. If you make rules to your world, you should follow them. Otherwise you get crap like Pirates of the Carribean 5 lore crap like the whole story of his Compass and how if giving it away should release Salazar he should have been released like in the 2nd or 3rd film. Inconsistencies suck.

Here are 2 that really made me go... wait, what?

  1. Sylas: Dude had some utterly insane power. His ability to single handedly stop Garen's decisive strike, Garen, being the giant man that he is, in full plate armor, plus the weight of his sword, coming down onto his two hands... i mean i dont doubt the hardness of Sylas's Gauntlets but this is a strength matter, he should have been throw on his feet or off balance at least. And dont even get me started on how he punches Garen throwing him several meters away... absurd. The literal only argument ive seen to justify this is that "He is now an iceborn", ok, no. I read the story, i know he touched an Iceborn. But sylas's power stealing is only temporary, this has been shown several times both in lore and in game. Otherwise his powers are just inconsistant, some people he takes permanently, others not? Wth? Unless your going to tell me he high fived a Iceborn just prior to the battle, he had no buisness being that strong. Also, is Garen so stupid? Lux literally told him in Issue 5, Dont use your sword against him, use anything else. Proceeds to fight Sylas with his sword in the cinematic smh.

  2. Lux: Wasnt my girl in hiding? She was up and about in the middle of a Demacian compound, fully showed her Magic, summoned Galio, and none of the soldiers present so much as said or did anything? What happened to the whole we are persecuting all magic buisness?

Wish they would address these. They contradict the lore of the Lux comic and just make it less believable. [zombie-nunu-bummed]

Well... you kinda answered yourself about the first point... It makes perfect sense for Sylas to take the power of an iceborn prior to the battle.

I think they're going to immedaetly arrest Lux and send her on trial back to Demacia which is going to be done by Jarvan the IV.

Would be interesting to see Jarvan forcefully claim her guilty and have Shyvana return just to stop him before Lux's execution.

Wouldn't he then make a choice? Do what he really wants to do and spare Lux and be with Shyvana again, or slain them both just because his people wanted to.

Well, it has to create that moment of desperation then the comeback moment then right before the fight the end. There is something inconsistent in all of them, all cinematics. Did Zaunites really just walk up in the cell of the most dangerous criminal in the entire Piltover prison? How did shurimans manage to use voidlings as a trap and yet struggle and almost lost because they can't fight back the void? Lux staff thing?? Galio not causing an entire earthquake and killing everything.

  1. Sylas is probably somewhat stronger due to being a mage (Perhaps magic gives them a little more strength?) but he isn't a iceborn he probably got stronger in the Freljord since he was with the Winters Claw. Remember the giant ice ball that broke down the gates and sent Garen flying? That was most likely Sylas' doing, he probably took one of their powers and created it in order to let his people in and since he could've used their magic to bring break down the wall he probably ran out of it and needed something different like Garen's sword. Garen's only weapon is his sword and he most likely is pissed off at Sylas for what he did too Demacia and how he toyed with his sister so him charging at him in order to hopefully kill and or immobilize Sylas was his plan but when Sylas countered his strike with the gauntlets he wasn't able to do much but let the magic be taken (Garen looked pretty surprised when Sylas didnt fall to his strike). Plus Sylas knows how to use his chains in a fight hes nimble and tricky to fight unlike the other things Garen has fought. You can see Garen striking and slashing at Sylas while Sylas spins around and whips is chains at him until he wraps them around Garens body distracting Garen and allowing Sylas to get a powerful strike on him.

  2. These are Demacians in the far north and a idea I heard was that they are a squad of trusted soldiers that wont be afraid of Lux or tell the king or any other people what Lux is since none of them were scared when she summonded Galio and stood behind her with Garen. She is obviously still in hiding but if this ideas true Garen may have his own squad of trusted but not the best soldiers who don't care what Lux is.

Sir OP let me ask you, is there any kind of decent reason to why Sylas would not high five an iceborn before going to fight Garen if he is able to?

As for the Demacian soldiers and the entire lux deal.......to be honest it´s indeed odd, perhaps they already knew or Garen barked at them to ignore it while they settled Sylas.

Galio coming in being the icon he is might also have helped reassure and calm them down once they got past the surprise of his arrival, If Garen kept his calm and was ordering them around the entire time then it makes sense for them to maintain order if they are elites.

Or perhaps they got ambushed while on their way to the fortress and Lux bailed them out with Magic, she was then disarmed for the moment and sent ahead while Garen acted as a rearguard but then Sylas&main army caught up to him by the fortress and breached the gate and things went as we saw it.

Soldiers just decided that since she already saved them twice they might as well help her look cool.

About that second point - those soldiers are soldiers because they follow orders. Garen is their commanding officer, not to mention a Crownguard. Going against him and Lux would do only one thing - have them court martialed for mutany and treason, likely failure to obey orders too, and that's assuming Sylas and his men leave them alive after Garen and Lux have been taken care of.

I haven't been reading Lux/Sylas/Garen lore lately, but I assume that those also aren't just any soldiers, but some of the most elite, ones who might know the Crownguards' secret.

I think you should also consider this likely is set in the far future. There should be some story to sort out Lux, otherwise I'd be very disappointed. As for Sylas: Why wouldn't he take some magic before the battle?
