So, when are we ever going to get any new lore that isn't tied to a champion release?

Runeterra recently had most of its lore reworked. That really sucked.

What sucks even more, is that there doesn't seem to be anything ready to replace most of the interesting content that was retconned out of existence.

Any plans Riot? Jax, Ezreal, Skarner, and many more of your champions are in a terrible state (lore wise) due to the recent lore retcon.

Are the problems caused by this going to be fixed soon? or just Riot's interpretation of soon? (soon*tm)

We won't be getting anything like that.

Seriously, go through the website. You'll notice that they removed all references to the lore except for the champion lore entries, and those are steadily shifting toward flavorful short stories that paint how awesome the character is while removing any reference to the long-term narrative. They very glaringly phased every single semblance of story progression out of the game.

Now, this is just my opinion, but... They're shifting toward handling the characters like a toyline. Riot will focus on eSports in terms of gameplay, while the characters will get the same story treatment as the ones on Transformers and Masters of the Universe, but without animated adaptations. They'll be products marketed through occasional non-consequential stories so we would buy those characters and products like posters, shirts and action figures.

I said that opinion back on the original lore discussion forums and I'm sticking by it.
