Taric Teaser Speculation

So, there is a new teaser for Taric, which shows an ornate ring falling into the snow, with the caption being "to ascend the mountain, I had to let everything go".

This is really just rabid, pointless speculation, but I'm going to take a guess as to what the new lore is going to be. Taric will be changed to be an individual from a noble/privileged family, obsessed with material wealth. He bedecked himself in all kinds of jewlery and finery, but there was always a feeling that he was lacking a particular element to his collection, or something to that effect. He heard the legends of mount targon, and believed that he could make the climb-- and that by climbing the highest peak in Runeterra (Valoran?) he would truly have collected everything the world had to offer.

Only, the mountain doesn't put up with that shit. As Taric climbed, it got colder, the climb got harder, and he had to divest himself of more and more of the precious finery and jewlelry that was weighing him down--literally and figuratively; everything he clung to had to be cast off as he climbed. By the time he reached the peak, he had nothing left to him, and was reborn as the aspect of...I dunno, SOMETHING, once he had let go of his materialism.

...I could be entirely off base, but those are my thoughts. I partly hope I'm wrong, because Taric starting off as a kind of debutante that's obsessed with wealth/money doesn't really resonate with me, even if he DOES shed it to become something greater. Thoughts?

I actually like this theory, it'd give some weight to his love of gems, while still letting him fit into the world. Personally I'd be fine with whatever direction they take his lore, so long as he stays calm and approachable. (Y'know without turning him into a generic beefcake in terms of his appearance) I think the theory right now is that he'll become the aspect of either love or peace. Leona (Sun) = Diana (Moon) Pantheon (War) = Taric (???)

I'm the opposite of you. I think he SHOULD start as a debutante. character growth is important, and we don't want them to be static characters. If we want him to be the man we're used to; kind, gentle but strong, a little silly, we need him to have a journey that gets him there. How uninteresting it would be to have a character who fights for the poor, just because he does and that's his only thing.

I think if he is going to become something we love, he might have to start as something we hate. I think Riot will do right by him, regardless. I've been excited for this rework since they announced it.

I'd say its a good chance he's going into the the targon lore. if anyone read the revamped lore for the aspects as they were announcing aurelion sol did you notice that they left a circle for a portrait vacant?

Also riot has been trying to clean up the lore for champs that were just sort of summoned to runeterra and had no affiliations whatsoever. That sort of thing works for the champs that are considered demons and such but not so much for a lone knight obsessed w/ his bling with strong homosexual undertones. You get the feeling he sort of set up a shack all alone cause he was too weird for most u know?
