Riot, when do you plan on working with the Champs who's lore got destroyed ?

Angelofchaos16x··9 votes·5,350 views

Ok, so I know that you guys just did Shadow and Fortune, and are now working on the Shruima Bios, and the new lores for Poppy and Taric, but might I remind you that you have many champs, who's lore got destroyed with the destruction of the League. Nocturn, Shaco, Kayle, Jax, Morgana, Fiddle , Orianna are all prime examples of champions who's lore was heavily connected to the League, that does not exist anymore, so in a manner of speech, neither do they. I was just wandering, will these champs get any lore related love soon, or will we have to wait for after the new season begins to start talking about them again ?

Those champs won't be getting new intros before the end of the year. They are among the champs that will be worked on, and we recognize the specific need to update them, but they're not on deck right now.

Thank you Jaredan, for the straight forward answer. I guess that season 6 will be one full of adventure, for gameplay and for lore.

Oh that will certainly be the case.

I'm very excited for what lies ahead. Lots of work to do, plenty of things in need of TLC, but we've got a lot of folks working very hard to bring great new champions, fresh takes on older champions in need, new stories to continue things we've previously failed to pay off, and a world that's coming together.

Teams like Champ, ChampUp, Foundations, and some other teams that are just getting started.

Personally, I'm proud of the work done this year and of the tremendous folks, old and new, on Narrative and the many other great disciplines at Riot, that are passionate about getting things for you to enjoy.

On Narrative and the direct story teams, there are still many things we need to rectify and improve on.

I can't even list how many changes we've made in 2015, but I think you will see the results more and more in 2016.

And you'll start seeing a few more fresh faces on here along the way.

Speaking of which, hey Jellbug!

As an intro: Jellbug's a relatively new member of Narrative who was the principal writer on the new Thresh extended character intro. I'll poke her to come say hi in here.

And this became a lot longer than I intended quick (though anyone who sees the first draft of anything I'm working on would not be surprised by that).

2016, onward.

Will Illaoi have a personal lore entry in addition to the shadows and fortune stuff?

Sharjo1 votes

Definetly, as will all new champions and reworks going forward. It'll likely come to light once her champion page goes up, so potentially the day of her release, the day of the patch she's released on, or shortly after, give or take a few days.

Excellent. I hope she's in the patch after preseason, then. I do so hate waiting!

I hope full of Lore skins too :D

I take it there's hope for next year, then? Well that's good.

Wouldn't putting these champions off be crippling yourselves in future events? I say this because if you want to inject these characters into any faction you already established, you will probably have to do a mini-retcon.

for example: A story about Demacia is written before you decide what to do with Kayle, leading you to not mention her at all. You decide that Kayle is a Religious icon or something to most Demacians, but then why wasn't that ever mentioned in the previous story if she is actually so important? This can lead to contradictions of characters that you said you wanted to avoid when you did the original retcon (stuff like Syndra never wanting to be controlled but signing up for the league where summonses control her). Your only choice would be to retcon the story you sent out only a month ago, angering the fans.

The big retcon was a year ago, but you still seem much too hesitant on fixing the biggest plot holes it left behind. Why are Kayle, Morgana, and Malphite in Valoran if the league was never there to move them to take them to Runeterra. What the hell is Jax now?

Welcome to Foundations, which is basically defining Runeterra at the moment to prevent these things.

Also welcome to leaving things vague and Runeterrans not knowing too much of the wide world, so that Foundations can work one faction at a time and we can get stories once they finish that faction, instead of when they finish the whole world.

Sorry if I pop up with the same old matter but...

Can we expect the Shurima champions to have new bios before Christmas?

DrCyanide4 votes

This is what I'm most curious in. Over a year after the Shurima event and there are more lines detailing side characters in the Bilgewater event than details about champions in the game.

Stars Shaper1 votes

Indeed. My question also comes from that they (Riot) said that Shurima characters were to be given new Bios after the SI ones, so I'm expecting something rather early considering how what held them back in the days where technical issues and so the Lore should be ready to post.

Well the issue we're talking about here specifically is that the lores from that time period were character pieces, not the extended lore we see today, but given Kalista's new long lore, which actually has the character piece they released over a year ago now (Evocation), I feel it's safe to say that those lost character pieces like Arisen, Unbound and Tears and Greed will be presented in the character piece section. As a result some of the work's already kinda done so unless they wanted to re-do some of those character pieces they already have a head start, relatively speaking.

Whether they pop up in the next two months or early next year is debatable, so I'd say it's probably safe to be a bit apprehensive and assume that unless the stars align in the best kind of way, that early 2016 is a fairer estimate as to when the Shurima champions will have their lore fixed.

Why is it taking years to update the lore?

If this keeps up, some of the deprecated lore is going to be deprecated for longer than it was actually relevant. lmao

I've done my take for Fiddlesticks's lore. It's not great, but hopefully this will serve as some form of inspiration for the lore writers out there.

I would like to see something for Fiddlesticks, he was my first main and the very first champ I bought back when I started. He's always kinda had a special place for me.

Cuix2 votes

Same, favorite and main since Season 1. I got hooked on Fiddles back when his E could bounce 10 times. I love his "nobody knows what my deal is but everyone is terrified as hell" vibe, though his in-game goofiness is also quite fun.

I'd love to see their new lores! Its sad to see them as basically nonexistent now, especially because I love Nocturne and Fiddles lore.

I hope Ahri will get her new lore soon, she was one of the first champs I played and one that I still play today

QuartzGolem1 votes

Lol, Jax's lore is 100% connected to the League, if that's what you mean by heavily.
