First question is how is he gonna do that Second question is WHEN ? i hope so a sequel to his lore is drawing near why ? Because his lore was interesting especially the burning tides event , maybe this time they could bring a new champ alongside his lore sequel or something like that.

The problem with League's lore is that there are at least 6 or 7 major areas (Ionia, Bilgewater, Zaun/Piltover, Noxus, Demacia, Freljord, Bandle City) all of which have their own storylines that need advancing. So any actual plot progression is gonna be pretty slow and/or scattered, especially for the forseeable future while characters are updated to bring them in line with the current lore.

He may never take it back, at least in the lore we're told because it would just be an endless cycle of Fortune or gangplank running it without either actually dying. I'm more interested to see if Fortune tries to mend ties with Noxus to fight off the harrowing and if mordekaiser notices and tries to retake the immortal bastion while they're protecting bilgewater.

If gp returns, he'd just continue backstabbing everyone he's allies with, and we'd never have half the opportunities we do with Fortune in charge.

I can totally see GP to retrieve part of the City and have local-city Civil War with MF for quite time
