Personally, I like the world of Runeterra as it was created through the Journal of Justice.

Sadly, Riot deleted that lore outta existence.

Now let's move on and talk about the current lore.

From a lore perspective... I don't even know what to make of the current lore.

Riot's done a pretty horrible job of explaining Runeterra Since the Retcon. Old champion lore is being downgraded in order to make it make sense with the new stuff being produced....and that isn't even working.

You're downright screwing the pooch in terms of lore Riot! What gives!?

Your question has been answered multiple times already. You may dislike the answer, fair enough, but you asking the same question for the nth time will do nothing to change the fact of the matter.

How do the recent lore updates fail at explaining Runeterra? Is it because it's slow and we still have regions unanswered?

If so, then so what? I don't think the previous lore expanded much on all the areas. Mt. Targon didn't have much going for it, hence why I hoped it would get an update due to its lack of content (and the update showcased a lot of world building, despite different opinions on whether it was for the better hint Pantheon hint).

The shadow isles finally has its origins revealed, something we never had back in the IoW.

The only problem I have with the lore as it is now is that there aren't any plans to connect the gameplay and lore in the near future. But beyond that, I think the retcon has done a fine job at expanding Runeterra.

It feels a lot bigger than what the summoners allowed it to be.
