Why do people say Diana is evil or bad?

She did kinda murder an entire temple of people, regardless or not that they were going to kill her in the first place.

She's an extremist. She doesn't want to make peace with the Solari, she wants them eliminated and is hellbent on killing Leona despite Leona having nothing to do with her attempted execution.

Also we have the quote, "The moon will rise, the night will last forever." which while being a taunt should probably be taken seriously (she doesn't joke around). You know the downsides of everlasting night? Crops die. Lack of food for plant eaters means lack of food for meat eaters.

Diana is a heretic, but that's not the bad thing. What's bad is that she is an extremist, she can't see that she could be wrong or unjustified. She's spent her whole life feeling wrong, feeling out of place. The discovery of the Lunari was probably the first time she really felt right and she doesn't want to lose that.

The sad part is that she isn't 100% wrong. The Lunari did exist, but that's all we know. We don't know if the Lunari were bad or if it was the Solari who were to blame. We know jack shit about their prophecy.

The sun and moon both experience an equinox, where day and night are of equal length. The Solari removed the Lunari, causing an extreme shift of balance in the suns favor. Balance shifts back.

Diana has become like the elders she slaughtered, just with the moon rather than the sun.

I'm starting to think that the prophecy of the sun and moon was not suppose to have an end. Rather it was suppose to be an eternal struggle or maybe they were suppose to cooperate? The light of the moon is a reflection of the sun after all.

Diana is definitely not evil.She had a right to kill those people the tried to kill her.They branded her with the moon symbol out of spite.The shunned her every time she tried to fit in they and they punished her for speaking her opinion.The Moon shall rise the Night shall last forever!Down with the Sun!!!

And what did the regular solaris ever do to her? What the elders did was wrong,but Diana got her revenge already,yet she keeps pursuing the other solari.

Well they reaped what they sowed.I doubt the solari would ever try to solve anything peacefully with Diana.Also is most likely that the Solari are the cause for the disappearance of the Lunari they probably killed them all off thinking them heretics.Also we can maybe infer that the Lunari are the source of the Moonstone and so once the Lunari were destroyed Nami's people could no longer obtain it.Thus the Solari are very easily the source of blame for many things.

But most Solari had NOTHING to do with all of this,yet Diana still hunts them down.

Its like the pope did something terrible and now all catholics must die or convert to a different religion.

The solari elders deserved their fate,but the others? Also its diana now who probably doesn't want to solve things peacefully anymore,keep in mind that despite the things that the elder did,they are actually described as peaceful and Leona was granted her sun powers for risking her own life to safe another one.

true you have good key points i doubt diana by herself will prove a danger to the solari as a whole and remember deep down part of her wanted to belong.i can only imagine what kind of clash will happen when diana and leona meet i can only assume that they are equal so the fight might just end at a draw and maybe leona can reach diana the future isnt set in stone for diana like i said diana is Not evil thus she might be able to control her anger the only reason she killed everyone at the temple was she was blinded by fear for her life despair at how they would rather kill her over accepting her and her and rage at her own fate.

what she is doing may be wrong, but think about it from her point of view. She spent her whole life being persecuted for believing there was something sacred about the moon by every solari she met. I think it's pretty understandable, however wrong, that she came to blame the Solari in general for her affliction. Leona, being essentially the poster girl of the Solari, so naturally the brunt of her anger would be focused on her. So summed up, she may be doing the wrong thing, but she is not bad because of it. She simply went too far down the wrong path.

She's ignorant of what she's become. She's evil but doesn't realize it.

When she does realize it, it'll hit her like a bag of bricks or she'll push it away all over again.

She's like a temper tantrum gone wrong for the right reasons, like if citizen A from Country A found out that their country brutally murdered Country B then justified murdering Country A as recompense. (Edit: there's more to it because Country A sentenced Citizen A to death because of the skeleton in the closet but you get the picture.)

A murder is still a murder.

But don't get we wrong that this wouldn't stop me from worshiping dat ass.

Overall no one complains about Diana killing the elders. I mean that went a bit too far to be called self-defense,but it is an understandable reaction after what the elders have done to her.

But the problem is that even after she killed these elders,Diana is taking her crusade even further.She wants to either eliminate or convert all the solari,not just those who did her wrong,but also everyone else,even though most solari probably have nothing to do with what happened to her,or the lunari as a whole(because diana was born as a solari and she had problems finding anything about the lunari,so it is clear that the common solaris don't know anything about the lunari).

In the end,Diana is pretty much doing what has been done to her,just like the moon reflects the light of the sun,diana reflects the cruelty of the solari elders.

that last paragraph is what it comes down too: a sense of what she feels as justified revenge. After they destroyed the people who worshiped just as she does and after they abused her so for such a great period of time, she feels justice would be best served through revenge.

Abuse doesn't excuse murder. It can be WHY someone does something, but it doesn't give them a free pass.

didnt say it excuses it, but being sentenced to death for believing differently is grounds for retaliation, she just got...ahem...carried away. i dont think shes a good guy, but i think people tend to act like she was the bad guy and the solari were the good guys.

The thing is that an evil person doesn't necessarily think that what they are doing is evil. Many evil characters(mainly lawful evil ones) think of their actions as justified or as necessary evil,which is pretty much the case with diana.

Her feelings are understandable and she thinks she is doing the right thing,but that doesn't justify slaughtering innocents over a religious conflict.

She called upon the moon's powers in self defense. I personally wouldn't call her evil over protecting herself from the elders trying to kill her. She's found solitude in something that nobody else believes in and was nearly killed for it. I would say it gives her reason to be irrationally hateful to the solari "ignorant thralls".

When we look at the last quote it does say if people do not RECOGNIZE the moon they will die by her blade. I'm assuming this means to assume the moon exists and has some sort of influence on the world. If one were to be a solari and say only believe the sun exists without the moon having a purpose; than I could agree with Diana to an extent.

I wish we knew the lunari more, I have no idea why they were killed. I'm guessing it could be because the solari were arrogant and couldn't accept a different kind of belief, so a war broke out between the two (Then again the lunari could be the same way, we just don't have any information).
